It's THURSDAY!
We we got some pretty strong thunderstorms here yesterday and today I'm hoping it's going to clear out be a beautiful day. It'll still be warm but nothing like Wednesday was.
I'm going to go on my morning walk again just like I did yesterday. The walk is about 5000 steps...my aim is for 10,000 a day but I don't know if I'll ever see that or not.
I got my computer desk changed around and it is now in the dining room instead of the kitchen. It was an all afternoon job. I still don't have my printer hooked up so I can use it because where it is plugged in I cannot get to. I'll have to wait till I can get someone to help me move the entertainment center in order to unplug it.
Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.

THINKING
The world always looks brighter from behind a smile

Wisdom tells me that I need laughter in my life, too. When things go wrong, a sense of humor can seem to miraculously melt away frustration and anger.
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Proverbs 17:22
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
If you don't have a smile, I'll give you one of mine.

We recently had some corn on the cob and as usual there was a left over ear or two. Here is a recipe you can make to use up the leftover corn
Corn Cakes with Honey
1 package corn muffin mix, prepared to package directions for corn pancakes (recommended: Jiffy)
2 ears fresh corn, kernels scraped from cob
1 orange, zested
2 scallions, whites and greens, finely chopped
3 tablespoons butter
Honey
Mix corn pancake batter in a large bowl. Heat a griddle or cast iron pan over medium-low to medium heat.
Stir the corn kernels, orange zest, and scallions into batter. Cut up 2 tablespoons butter into small bits and fold it into the batter. Nestle a pat of butter into a folded paper towel and wipe pan with it. Pile the batter into mounds 3 inches wide and cook the cakes until deep golden on each side. Repeat with remaining batter.
Meanwhile, heat a small pot of water over low heat and bring to a bubble. Remove the pan from heat and put the honey jar into the water bath to gently warm. Arrange the corn cakes on a serving platter and serve with honey drizzled on top.
Makes 4 servings
PRAYERS
Lord and my God, help me to conquer anger with gentleness, greed by generosity, apathy by fervor. Help me to forget myself and reach out towards others.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
AROUND HOME
I am fond of only what comes from the heart

When I went shopping on Tuesday with my sisters . They had lovely name brand things that were probably discontinued items they buy out and then mark down. The best buy, but not the only one, was paint brushes.
I got 2 sets of 6 brushes for the cost of what one brush would normally cost. I'm hoping this inspires me to get out my paints and see what masterpieces I an come up with. It was a fun afternoon shopping with my sisters.

I received some pictures from DDIL#6 and got to see the first hair cut for our little Lucky guy. He still has a lot of hair. I think it makes him look older than he is.

Sorry I'm behind on reading blogs; our son and his family - including three of our grandchildren - are here, so it's pretty busy around here!
Love your thoughts on smiles and laughter! Our house has been full of both lately!
I didn't know that you painted. You'll have to paint something and post it for us to see! Wish I had that talent.
Have a great weekend!
