ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
June 7TH, 2010
Sunday was a prettier day than we've had in awhile but it was much cooler here. The high on my thermometer said 68 degrees. Some of my camping friends came in on Sunday afternoon and I got to go for a golf cart ride down by the lake.
I guess I'm lucky to be on the hill here because there was quite a bit
of flooding down by the lake.
I'll be going home this evening and then return to the camper on Thursday. First I want to enjoy what promises to be the first full sunny day in quite a while here at camp. The pictures today are of our campground area that is around the lake here.
Bread comes in many forms and is the staple diet of millions of people all over the world. Bread doesn’t just happen. It is a combination of many things together, the soil, the sun and rain. It passes through many hands from the farmer, the miller, the
baker, the shopkeeper and then to us. It is people who bring forth the bread but it is to God whom we give thanks to.
And taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were satisfied. And they took up what was left over, twelve b
askets of broken pieces.
Luke 7: 16-17
God takes the little we have and multiplies it for the good of others.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity
Eggs in a Hat
4 slices of your favorite bread
4 slices of ham or Canadian bacon
4 slices of cheese
Warm your skillet or griddle over low heat. Also, be sure to grease the pan up well! Using either a round cookie cutter or a drinking glass, cut out a hole in the center of your bread, being careful not to break the crust. It will still work if the crust breaks, just not as well. Place the bread in the skillet and lightly toast it on both sides. Crack an egg into the hole in the bread and cook until the egg white is almost solid. Flip over and put a slice of cheese and then a slice of ham.
Serve when cheese is melted. For the bread that was leftover from cutting the circle out, just dip that in a beaten egg and make French toast out of it
makes 2 servings
Lord our God, inspire us to make our choices well and understand our responsibilities and the consequences of what we do. Help us to make good use of the opportunities that come to us. Lead us to be positive in our attitude, that we may work well with others and live this day to the full
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
As a child my family's menu consisted of two choices: take it or leave it
I hauled out my sweat pants and jacket to wear Sunday since it got so cool here. Quite a change from the tropical weather we did have. One thing about the weather it is always changing. Probably by next month we'll wish we were cooler. So I'm not complaining, just stating a fact. It would be nice though if we didn't have any more rain for awhile
We should look for someone to eat and drink with before looking for something to eat and drink...
I got a surprise phone call from my youngest sister Sunday afternoon. She
was calling to check on me... She said they had a bumper crop of maple tree seedings growing in their flower beds. I couldn't believe it when she said they had a
big garbage bag full and she was no where done with the job. Wow! You all know what they say about having a lot of tree seeds...it's going to be a bad winter ahead. At least I won't have to worry about going off to work and all the white knuckle drives I used to have in the ice and snow.
Have I mentioned that retirement is wonderful???
