ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JUNE 4TH, 2010
It's FINALLY FRIDAY!
I did make it to the campground Thursday and although they said there was not going to be any rain except in the southern part of Ohio...we did get
rain for just a little while in the afternoon yesterday. It is sou
th of home but not in what I'd consider southern Ohio.
Today is supposed to be nice but we do have a chance of rain through the weekend. I checked weather.com and it said only 30 per cent so I'm hoping that is right.
Though we may change, God doesn't.
The LORD's unfailing love and mercy still continue,
Fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
I found a bunch of camping recipes on line and one of them looked mighty familiar so I thought I'd share that with you today.
This recipe is fast, easy, and the ingredients need little refrigeration (only sausage goes in fridge!) - a definite plus when camping. Besides being delicious, it is good for you too
One Pot Bubble and Squeak
1 small cabbage
4-6 medium potatoes
1-2 lbs. smoked kielbasa sausages
1/4 cup water
(I also like to add a few carrots to this )
Peel and cube the potatoes, coarse chop the cabbage, and slice the sausage. Then layer the cabbage, potatoes and sausage in a large pot or pan, repeat layers, add water and simmer until veggies are tender. This makes a complete meal in one pot. You can serve more by adding more cabbage, potatoes and sausage.
Servings: 6 - 8

The really idle man get nowhere. The perpetually busy man does not get much farther
Sir Heneage Ogilvie
I am about as idle as I can get and it feels great. No one's here but me at the campsite and I really enjoy the quiet. I started a book and have been r
eading. I checked my e-mail and I have been fixing simple meals like crackers and cheese and deli ham sandwiches. I am still trying to catch up on my rest after years of working so it may just take me most of the summer to get tired of doing nothing.
I did hear from DS#1 yesterday and also had an e-mail from DDIL#1 asking if I could babysit a day for them in November. I put the date on my calendar. Then I heard from DDIL#5 too. She's looking forward to her baby shower coming up in August so I put that date on my calendar too.
DS#6 also sent an e-mail letting me know he's been busy finishing up his grad program. I'm not sure of the actual date he'll graduate from that but I do know it's been a lot of work for him.
This new computer has a built in calendar program so it's easy to insert dates and then it reminds you to when the date comes due. I guess I best start using it as the days are filling up fast here.
