Today is National Postal Worker Day which recognizes the hard work, dedication and vital public service of mail carriers, sorters and postal employees.

Established in 1997 by a Seattle area letter carrier to honor fellow employees , this day highlights the hundreds of thousands of essential workers who brave the elements to connect communities and process hundreds of millions pieces of mail and packages.  

Celebrate today and thank your mailman for the work he or she does!

These days most of the mail I get is junk mail, but every now and then I get something good like a card from a family member.  DDIL#1 likes to send out postcards to me and I have quite a collection of these.   Some people give the post office a bad rap because they keep raising the cost of a postage stamp, but then we have to remember the cost of everything has gone up.  So they have to do this in order to keep operating.  

The only time, I had any trouble with the mail is when one of my pieces of mail got chewed up by their mail machine at the post office.  That caused a bit of problem for me, but it was quickly worked out.

DDIL#4’s dad was a mailman for many years and when he retired they went to Florida.  I guess he was tired of Ohio winters for sure!

More and more places have created a central place to go to to get your mail.  Then they no longer have to deliver door to door. We had a place like that where I used to live in Ohio, and we have the same here in Texas.  It’s just a short walk up the street so it’s not inconvenient.  I’ll be doing that for my family here the next few days as they are going on a little vacation.  DS#2 has said he’d be coming over to check on me, but everything should be good here as I’ve got our dog to keep me company.

All and all I have to thank all the mail people I’ve had for the great job they do!

COUNTING MY GIFTS

A real Thank you does not come by email.  They come in the mail in an envelope.  And what comes out of an envelope is a beautiful thing to touch and to handle and pass around for everyone to read.

14,445. for my walker which will be getting a workout this week.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

 

Almighty and eternal God,

Protect our military

as they discharge their duties

with the shield of your strength,

may the power of your love

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them

they may ever praise you for your loving care.

AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
