Today is also American Cancer Society Denim Day which is one of the largest single day fundraisers for breast cancer in the country.

It is also called Lee National Denim Day, Lee Jeans employees started this day in 1996.  Following their philosophy, one day, one cause, one cure.  Lee jeans invites companies to participate in the fundraiser and go casual for a cause.  Employees are encouraged to wear jeans to work in exchange for a $5 contribution to the breast cancer fund  Nearly 1 million supporters take part in this fundraiser each year. 

Almost every one knows someone who has been affected by cancer, a mom, a sister, an aunt, a friend— but great strides have been made thanks to people like this.   

Celebrate today and wear jeans to show your support of Breast Cancer Research.

This granddaughter lives in Ohio, so I won’t seeing her today, but I did get a card sent out to her filled with birthday wishes and love. 

It is too hot here to wear jeans, but I do have jean shorts so that is what I’ll be wearing today.  Hopefully someday a cure will be found for breast cancer.  Meanwhile the best thing we can do is go for regular checkups and mammograms. The earlier it is detected, the better.

My daughter’s son had an MRI yesterday to determine the damage to his knee. Now we wait for the results.  He is in a lot less pain and has crutches so can move around.  Meanwhile he is at home from school.  

My results from the kidney doctor’s lab work came back good once again.  I’m holding at Level 3 kidney disease which he says is great and that I should keep up with whatever I’ve been doing.  I’ve been watching what I eat and drinking lots of water.  

I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!  Don’t forget to wear your jeans. 

COUNTING MY GIFTS

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.  So, the only thing to really be afraid of is of is if you don’t get your mamograms.

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Almighty and eternal God,

Protect our military

as they discharge their duties

with the shield of your strength,

may the power of your love

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them

they may ever praise you for your loving care.
