The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades.  May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks,  and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Pencil Day which celebrates the first  United States Patent the Trademark Office granted on this day in 1858 for a modern pencil with an eraser attached to it.  Hymen Lipman created the wooden pencil and received high praise for how easy it was to use.

A single wooden pencil can write 45,000 words or draw a line that is 35 miles long.  A pencil can write under water, upside down, or in zero gravity.  Manufactureres painted the first pencils yellow because the color associated with royalty and honor.  People quickly began assuming that yellow pencils were the best type!

To celebrate today, set aside you laptop and use a pencil and paper to write today!

I have used yellow pencils here for years, but I prefer the mechanical pencils that you have to fill with lead.  You can use them over and over and just add more lead when needed. 

Of course, I like the idea that I can erase if I make a mistake.  Erasers let us easily correct something. 

I had a basket full of pencils sitting on my desk, making it easy access to what I need.  It also contained pens and scissors,  and a letter opener.  I’m taking just a few with me, but the rest will be donated.

We filled the curb with donations on Thursday evening for a pick up which was to happen Friday morning.  My house is looking very empty.  

The living room area now contains my suitcases which are packed and ready. DS#5 checked to make sure they were all under the 50 pound limit that is allowed by the company I’ll be flying with.  Otherwise I’d have to pay big bucks for anything over that weight.

Today is our family get together for Easter, so I’ll be leaving by noon to go over to my son’s house for the festivities.  What could be better than good food combined with family ! 

Tomorrow after church, I’m going to be getting together at my nieces house to have Easter dinner with them, more good food and family.  I’ll get to say my goodbyes to everyone before leaving on Tuesday. 

This will be my final post from Ohio, next time I write, it will be from Texas.  I’ll be offline now for a few days. Hopefully by April 3rd, I’ll be back on line again.

I hope you all enjoy a safe and happy Easter weekend! The pictures today are from the last time we celebrated at DS#5 home. It was in April 2019 then and the weather cooperated so the kids could enjoy their Easter Egg hunt in the backyard.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

 

Almighty and eternal God,

Protect our military

as they discharge their duties

with the shield of your strength,

may the power of your love

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them

they may ever praise you for your loving care.

AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
