Hallmark!
Today is National Sons Day which recognizes sons of all ages and celebrates the joy they bring to their parents lives. Today is a good day to reflect on the accomplishments of our sons.
It is the perfect day to take the opportunity to celebrate your son at any age. Share a meal, enjoy the outdoors together, or remininese with pictures.
Celebrate today and remember to let your sons know just how much they mean to you today!
If you cannot see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You don’t raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they’ll turn out to be heroes, even if it’s just in your own eyes.

I was blessed with 6 sons and only one daughter so I will definitely be celebrating . I’m so proud of all of them. They all have grown into wonderful responsible men. They all have good jobs are are wonderful husbands and good dads to their children.
I just cannot say enough good things about them. I love my sons and they mean the world to me!
I also consider my daughter’s husband as a son too, as he is always helping out too. He acts just like one of my boys!
It’s hard to believe it’s Monday again, a fresh start and a new beginning. As usual, lately, it will be another busy one. Getting ready to move.
I also will be cooking up something new and on the menu is:
Slow Cooker Cabbage Roll Soup
Makes 8 servings
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 yellow onion, chopped
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 can, 15 oz., crushed tomatoes, undrained.
6 cups chopped cabbage
6 carrots, diagonally sliced
4 cups chicken broth
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp caraway seeds
4 fresh thyme sprigs
2 1/2 Tbsp. hot sauce, optional
2 Tbsp fresh flat leaf parsley, plus more for garnish
2 packages, 8.8 oz., micrwavable brown rice, heated, or 3 cups cooked brown rice., warmed
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add onion, cook stirring until beginning to soften. Add beef cook, stirring often to break up the meat, until lightly browned and cooked through. Transfer beef and onion and drippings to a slow cooker. Add crushed, diced tomatoes, cabbage , carrots, broth, paprika, caraway seeds and thyme to the slow cooker, stir to combine.
Cover and cook until vegetables are tender, about 4 hours on High or 6 hours on low. Remove and discard thyme sprigs. Stir in hot sauce, if using, and parsley. Divide the soup among 8 bowls. Top evenly with rice and garnish with additional parley.
I prefer to add my rice to the slow cooker before serving. I got a coleslaw mix that included carrots for my dinner. I think it saved time chopping the cabbage and carrots. I’m all about taking the easiest route. I won’t be using hot sauce in mine as I like my food mild.
The only son living close by is DS#5 and hopefully I’ll be seeing him later on today. He is helping me with every thing I need to do in order to move.
Today is supposed to be partly cloudy with patches of fog here and there, we’ll be in the 70’s which is usually unheard of for the month of March. The heat won’t last long and we’ll be in the 40’s by Wednesday with more rain.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week! Happy Monday !

Oh my goodness - six wonderful sons. I have one and I am going to send him a message because I did not know this.
Also I copied your cabbage recipe! Looks great.
I've only one son, but he's my everything!
Cabbage rolls are sooo good; I never thought about preparing it in a soup. We're in the 70's all week here, too, so I'd better get a move on if I'm going to make that. For some reason, hot soups don't appeal so very much once the weather warms.
I've another blog friend who calls these crazy weather patterns "global weirding", and I think she's right.
Son's day! We have one son, 2 daughters. All have given us grandchildren. Our son lives in Illinois, while we are in California. Hope we get to see them maybe in May or so. They have 2 sons and 2 daughter. They are 5, 3, 2 yrs. old. We will call him today.
