Hallmark!
Today is National Brother’s Day which is our opportunity to recognize and honor the brothers in our lives.
Brothers are the men that are always there for us in good times or bad. They may tease us mercilessly and support us unconditionally.
To celebrate today, let all the brothers in your life know how much you care about and appreciate them! They could be a sibling, a step brother, best friend, brother in law, or a cousin!
If you cannot see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Brothers make the best friends.

I only ever had sisters, but my daughter only had brothers, 6 of them. I do have a wonderful Brother in law though. He happens to be married to my sister and he is a very happy man right now as he just had knee surgery which will allow him to walk better once more.
The brothers in the pictures today are my sons and now they are all married so my daughter finally got the sisters she always wanted. I got a brother when my sister married and I’m thankful for him.
Today is my day to make up a new menu so I can do my shopping. I’m still hoping to use what I already have in the pantry and freezer. The only thing I can think of that I need right now is my bottled water. I do love Dasani bottled water to drink.
On the menu for next week will be:
Monday - Spinach Mushroom Frittata with Avocado Salad
Wednesday - Chicken and Cucumber Pita Sandwiches with Yogurt Sauce
Friday - Skillet Broccoli Cheddar Mac and Cheese
Weekeend - Sheet Pan Orange Apricot Drumsticks
I will be adapting the recipes with what I have on hand. So I don’t have to buy anything but the water at the store today!
On the menu for today is:
Green Pepper Steak
Makes 4 servings
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup water
2 Tbsp. oil, divided
1 lb beef top sirloin steak, cut into 1/4 inch thick strips
2 small onions cut into thin wedges
2 celery ribs, sliced diagonally
1 green pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces
2 medium tomatoes cut into wedges
Hot cooked brown rice
Mix cornstarch soy sauce and water until smooth. In a large skillet heat 1 Tbsp. oil over medium high heat, stir fry beef until browned. Remove from pan.
Stir fry onions, celery, and pepper in remaining oil. Stir cornstarch mixture, add to pan. Bring to boil and cook until thickened and bubbly. Stir in tomatoes and beef; heat through. Serve with brown rice.
The doctor appointment yesterday went good and bad. The bad is that my kidney’s are still degenerating. The good news is the doctor believes that is being caused by one of my blood pressure medications and if it continues, he will change my medicine again. In other good news he said my sugar level is way down, but he said not to give up my diet. As I have a tendency to be diabetic it is something I’m going to have to watch for the rest of my life. He was happy with everything and told me not to worry.
It’s supposed to be in the low 70’s today and partly cloudy so it will be a good day to get out and about, but a cold front is moving in. It was still be dry and sunny but cooler. Usually a front would bring rain, but thankfully not this time.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY BLESSINGS

I am thankful for my brother in law and my daughter is grateful for her sisters in law!
Yours is a wonderful family, Ma .... something for everyone! I was an only child -- who, in turn had an only child. Thankfully, I've been surrounded by friends who feel like sisters and brothers.
Sure glad you've got a proactive doctor, staying on top of things. Isn't modern medicine a blessing?
ps - I'm so looking forward to reading Monday's recipe!
You had all sisters and your daughter had all sons. That is cute.
I lost my only sibling - my brother - in 1997 at the age of 51. I still miss him!
What a great clan you have! Having a doctor who is on top of your health needs is a gift in itself.
