Hallmark!
Today is National Oreo Cookie Day which celebrates a delicious chocolate cookie with cream filling that we all know and love.
The Oreo sandwich is made using powdered sugar, vanilla extract, water, granulated sugar, and shortening.
The first Oreo cookie was sold in March 1912 to a grocer in Hoboken, NJ. The oreo has since become the best selling cookie in the United States. There are tons of fun and unique Oreo flavors, including Birthday Cake, Cookie Dough, and Banana Split flavored cookies.
To celebrate today, pour yourself a glass of milk and indulge in some Oreo cookies. Enjoy !
If you cannot see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A lot of people love Oreos. So their manufacturer is making money. That means more dividends for shareholders.

Cookies are another thing no longer allowed in my no sugar diet. I’m trying to avoid being a diabetic. Thankfully I’ve eaten many in the past and have some sweet memories. Old age is not treating me well. On the Bright side it could be worse. It seems everything has a bright side to it these days, when you take the time to look.
If it hadn’t been for the blood tests my doctor had done, I would have never known there was a problem. I highly recommend regular check ups by your physician.
The results may not always be what we want to hear but they can make a difference in a longer life.
In keeping with my healthy diet, I’m having this dish for dinner tonight:
Slow Cooker Cabbage Roll Soup
Makes 8 servings
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 onion, chopped
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 15 oz. can no salt crushed tomatoes, undrained
1 15 oz can no salt added diced tomatoes, undrained
6 cups chopped green cabbage
6 medium carrots, diagonally sliced
4 cups unsalted chicken broth
2 tbsp light brown sugar
1 Tbsp. smoked paprika
1/2 tsp caraway seeds
4 sprigs fresh thyme
2 1/2 Tbsp hot sauce
2 Tbsp fresh parsley, plus more for garnish
3 packages microwaveable brown rice, heated according to package directions or 3 cups cooked brown rice, warmed
Heat oil in large skillet over medium high heat . Add onion, cook, stirring occasionally until softened. Add beef, cook, stirring often to break up meat until lightly browned and cooked through. Transfer beef and drippings into a slow cooker . Add crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, broth, brown sugar, paprika, caraway seeds and thyme to slow cooker. Stir to combine.
Cover and cook until vegetables are tender, about 4 hours on high or 6 hours on low. Remove and discard thyme sprigs. Stir in hot sauce and parsley. Divide soup among 8 bowls, top evenly with rice, garnish with addition parsley, if desired. I think I’d prefer to add the rice to meat mixture and let it simmer awhile, so that’s what I will do.
I don’t have any fresh thyme so will be using dried today instead. I will also omit the sugar and the hot sauce. The serving size is 2/3 cup soup and about 1/3 cup rice.
We’re supposed to be in the 50’s today but it’s to rain so it will be a good day for hot soup!
With no pictures of oreo cookies to share I’m just posting a few more of my Spring decorations here.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week! Happy Monday!

Enjoy an Oreo Cookie today ! Celebrate !
The closest thing we have to an oreo are Moon Pies, left over from the Mardi Gras parade. Tom doesn't remember ever having one (what?!?!), so I'm giving him all mine.
I hope your tips on preventive medicine will prompt someone to get regular check-ups. Thankfully, my Medicare provider insists on an annual Wellness exam. Plus I got in the habit of regularly taking our blood pressure a few years ago. I'm grateful for these devices that make it easy to stay on top of it.
I saved that recipe.
Now can you tell me why things that taste so good are so bad for you?
National Oreo Cookie Day !!!!!!!!!!
I pick the soup over Oreos.
