ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR WEDNESDAY,SEPTEMBER 25TH, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Johnny Appleseed day which celebrates the birthday of John Chapman, aka Johnny Appleseed. who lived in the USA from 1774 until 1847. He became famous as he is said to have brought apple trees to all over the Midwest. He walked through the country planting apple trees everywhere and he’s is known to have been a truly kind person and a polite man. Today s a good idea to try fostering ones’s own little apple tree, the seed you need can be found in any apple.
John Chapman never gained any profit from his apples because he only raised the trees and then he moved on planting his seeds somewhere else. Taking part in today’s celebration should include eating an apple of course . Schools often celebrate this date to teach kids about this popular and healthy fruit.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side .
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Eat an apple on going to bed and you’ll keep the doctor from earning his bread.
Old Proverb
This is a popular time of year to visit apple orchards and pick your own apples. That is what the pictures are of, DD and her family picking apples in one of our local orchards. Ohio has a lots of them. My grandson told me that the apples you pick yourself always taste better! Truly it is a fun way to spend time with the family and it looks like they all had a great day together.
Apples are one of the most popular of fruits and one of the healthiest of fruits you can eat too. They contain a high amount of fiber, vitamin C. . potassium and vitamin K They are a powerful antioxidant that protects brain cell degeneration, that can lead to Alzheimer’s disease. They lower your blood pressure and when you eat the skin they reduce the risk of heart disease.
It turns our that eating an apple a day can keep the doctor away, but you’ve to to eat the skin. Apples also act as a tooth brush, cleaning teeth and killing bacteria in the mouth, which may reduce tooth decay..
Our orchards also have apple cider to offer and I love it. It’s very refreshing cold, when it hot out and very warming hot, when it’s cold out. Either way it’s very good.
I love my apples for a snack when dipped in caramel dip and here’s a recipe for making our own.
Caramel Dip
Yield: 3 cups
1/2 c. softened butter
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. light corn syrup
1 can sweetened condensed canned milk
1 tsp. vanilla
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, corn syrup and condensed milk, stirring to combine. Stir constantly until mixture comes to a light boil. Remove from heat right away and add vanilla. Stir to combine. Serve warm or at room temperature with apple slices and pretzels or drizzle over ice cream.
And in case you’re wondering I included a new picture of Mr. Pumpkin Head in today’s post so you can see how he’s doing.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesay!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away!
Mr. Pumpkin Head is looking great! Cute pictures of apple picking days! I like your grandson's attitude that an apple picked by oneself tastes better! I'm sure that is so true! I have never gone apple picking and not sure if there are orchards around here. I'll have to go and check that out.

Love your pumpkin head!!! We have apple farms just north of home and I used to take Amber and Benjamin there when we were homeschooling. Hand picked apples have a bit more magic in them than the ones you buy in the store.
Aw, I remember learning about 'Johnny Appleseed' in grade school … Brownies, too. That recipe for the caramel dip actually sounds pretty simple. I remember one of our neighbors gave away the BEST caramel apples each year on Halloween.
That pumpkin head looks great!
