ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY,SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Skyscraper Day which celebrates Louis H. Sullivan's birthday in 1856, the arhitect credited with the first skyscrapers. He has been credited as the father of the American skyscrapers, because of his accomplishments in design and construction.
A skyscaper is a tall, continuously habitable building of many stories.usually designed for office and commercial use. There is no official definition or height above which a building may be classified as a sykscaper. One common feature is having a steel framework that supports curtain walls.
Today skyscrapers are an increasingly common sight where land is expensive, as the centers of big cities, because the provide such a high ration of rentable floor space per unit acre of land. They are built not just for economy of space, but like temples and palaces of the past, skyscrapers are considered symbols of a city’s economic power. Not only do they define the skyline, they helped to define a city’s identity. In some cases exceptionally tall skyscrapers have been built not out of necessity, but to help the city’s identity and presence of power as a city.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side .
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
From stoplights to skyscrapers, turn anywhere in civilization and you will see imagination at work, it’s in our inventions, advances and remedies and how a single parent masterminds each day. Imagination is boundless and surrounds us and resides in us all.
Geoffre B. Fletcher
I live in a small town and our buildings are not very tall compared to big cities. The only thing close by that resembles a skyscraper is the tree that is next to my house. The sky scape is something that always appeals to me and that is what the pictures are of today
I prefer small towns to big ones, mainly due to the traffic. Large city have multiple lane highways that go through them and the traffic is very heavy. Not my way of life for sure. My house is small and insignificant in the realm of things.
I’m a city girl with a country girl heart. If I had my druthers, I’d rather be in the country. I do live life in the slow lane after all.
As I’ve nothing in the refrigerator but leftover desserts today, I’ve got to cook and in order to celebrate the day I’m going to make some Skyline chili. This chili is made by a chain of restaurants based in Cincinatti, Ohio. It has a meat sauce full of unique seasonings that is served on top of spaghetti and topped with cheese, and sometimes onions and beans. . It is also good on hotdogs with some mustard, onions and a mound of cheese.
Copycat Skyline Cincinatti Chili
5 cups water
6 oz can tomato paste
1/2 oz baking chocolate, unsweetened
1/4 c. chili powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp coin
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 red pepper flackes
1/8 tsp. black peipper
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp sugar
2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
1 1/4 lb lean ground beef
Add the 5 cups of water in a large pot. Add tomato paste and chocolate and heat over medium heat stirring to combinefor about 3 minuts. I stir with a whisk to really break up the tomato paste.
Add chili powder, cinnamon, garlic powder , cumin, allspice, chives , red pepper flakes , black pepper, salt, sugar and vinegar.
Next crumble ground beef into the pot with your fingers, then use a potato masher, whisk or fort to break up the meat into fine pieces.
Turn up the heat to high to bring to a boil. Then once boiling turn the heat down to medium low. Cook uncovered for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally until sauce a thickened quite a bit. Serve over spaghetti or a hot dog.
Note: I choose to brown my meat first and then add the water and tomato paste and all the seasonings. They say the secret to this chili is in the slow cooking.
Chili is a healthy meal that is packed with vitamin C and if beans are added has plenty of protein. The iron from the beans in your chili is really good for you. A lot of people don’t get enough iron in their daily diet. The ingredients can help reduce sugar and fat cravings. The beef includes niacin, vitamin B12, zinc and protein. It boosts your immune system. It can help regulate your blood sugar, and chillies can clear congestion. It’s the perfect fall dish.
I hope you all have aTERRIFIC Tuesday!

There are all kinds of skylines to enjoy
That recipe sounds delicious, Ma. I'm more of a city girl, LOL
Early in our marriage hubby had thoughts of living in the country but I like to have people around me so we stayed city. Phoenix does have lots of tall buildings. Haven't been in any of them but they do make an interesting skyline to see.
betty
I live in a big city but fortunately I don't have to fight traffic everyday to go to work and I am so grateful for that. Your chili sounds great and I love your little place with the big tree.
I'm delighted to have left the Big City and its traffic congestion in my rear-view mirror! Maybe it's next week's awful anniversary, but I can't see myself ever feeling comfortable while in a skyscraper. I'll never forget one of my bosses -- a former firefighter -- cautioning us never to stay in a hotel room higher than the 3rd (I think) floor because that's only as high as their ladders can extend.
This recipe sounds wonderful … and may be just the thing for my 'absolutely NO beans in my chili' hubby.
PLEASE NOTE: CORRECTION IN INGREDIENTS- It is cumin not coin. Sorry I didn't catch that .
