Today is National Nut Day which honors one of the healthiest, most nutritions and most delicious snacks. Medical studies have show that eating nuts reduces hypertension and the risks associated with heart disease. Nuts are alaso full of protein fiber and unsaturated fat.
Peanuts are not really nuts. They are legumes and belong to the bean family. Some popular types of nuts include pecans, walnuts, pistachios, almonds and macadamia nuts.
Celebrate today and eat lots of nuts as a snack or on top your favorite dessert.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side .

I love most all kinds of nuts and have them often for snacks. I make a mix similar to trail mix with walnuts, mini frosted shredded wheat squares and raisins to snack on. It’s tasty and good for you too. Walnuts are the top nut for brain health. They have significantly high concentration of DHA, a type of Omega 3 fatty acid whih improves performance in adults, and prevents ameliorate age related cognitive decline. Studies have also shown that people with walnuts and walnut oil in the diets have lower resting blood pressure and well as lower blood pressure responses to stress.
Todays pictures are of my mighty oak tree which is providing plenty of nuts for the squirrels and birds to eat this winter. It gave me some wonderful shade all summer long too. It makes more work for me, but I wouldn’t want to be without it.

Some times I am a nut. Ha...
That's sure an eye-pleasing way to keep your walnuts! (Not sure eye-pleasing is a word, but that's what came to mind, so I went with it!)
There's always a jar of unsalted peanuts in the cupboard - I've even taken to sprinkling a handful on top of my salad. But learning what you said about the walnuts, I may add that to next week's shopping list.
