ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SUNDAY,SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Felt Hat Day which is for both men and women. Everyone is encouraged to wear a felt hat. The hat can be big or small, colorful or not, fancy or simple. The only rulee is that it has to be made of felt. Hats were a popular garment and had and important role in fashion and attitude, and felt was a common material for hats in the 1920’s. So if you have one hidden somewhere, an old felt hat from back then, today is your chance to pull it out and show everybody that you celebrate Felt Hat Day!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side .
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
I can smell Autumn dancing in the breeze. The sweet chill of pumpkin, and crisp sunburnt leaves.

I have a couple of old hats stuck away on the shelf here so I will be celebrating today. They used to be worn to church every Sunday, but their popularity has faded away. I really like hats so will be glad to put one on one today. It is Sunday and I’ll be off to church later this morning.. No doubt I’ll get a strange look or two. No one wears them anymore.
Regardless, it’s a good day, with cooler weather coming our way to make sure your know where you gloves scarves and hats are for when you need them. I have a box here by the door that I try to keep all the gloves, scarves and hots of mine in. But it’s a good thing to check and make sure the gloves all have a pair. Right now the weather is still very warm here, more like summer that fall. But the cold days will come, they always do.
Today is also 100 Days until Christmas which I mark on the calendar every year. It’s my reminder to get busy with my Christmas painting projects. With my large family it will take every one of those 100 days to finish making the gifts I want to paint for my family. Giving them something hand made is the only way I can afford to give everyone a gift.
I’ll be sharing some Christmas tips along the way too. Today is a good time to start a Christmas Calendar. December’s busy days call for a dedicated calendar for smooth sailing. Write down holiday events, school functions and holiday parties. Service projects, travel and worship activities double that time of year. When you block out and note every seasonal commitment, large or small, you’ll make it a lot easier on yourself. Time to get ready for Christmas! It’s a good time too, to try making a Christmas Organizer, with a place for the calendar, the to do lists, gift lists, shopping lists ,recipes and menus all included. With every thing in one place you’ll simplify your life and enjoy the holidays more.
Sundays are always my day to rest, so I’ll be taking some time to get organized while I sit on the porch and enjoy a lovely afternoon. I have a Christmas binder that I’ve used for years and need to put a new December Calendar in it. Christmas is my favorite time of year and I like to think that preparation is half the fun of any holiday.
Today’s pictures are more of my fall decorating and the one above is of a new porch friend. I got a mum plant to put in the pumpkin container I keep to use every year. Right now his hair is short, but it will grow as the buds blossom and grow, so I thought it’d be fun to share his picture regularly so you can see how he changes as we progress through fall. Mr. Pumpkin head will be one of those fun things to watch as we head toward Christmas.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!

It's only 100 days until Christmas. Let the fun begin!
I sure remember felt hats! My dad went through a phase where he insisted my mother and I wear hats to church each Sunday. Before she went to work o/s the house, my mom even took to making her own felt hats. How well I remember the wooden heads and peculiar odor as they were steamed. Odd, that to my knowledge no photos exist.
That is neat, Ma, that you wore a hat to church today! Wow 100 days until Christmas! How did that happen? This year is going by way too fast for me!
