ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The goldenrod is yellow. The corn is turning brown. The trees in apple orchards With fruit are bending down.
Helen Hunt Jackson
Just in time for Autumn our town celebrated its annual Apple Festival in our town square this past weekend. It’s been going on now for many years and features lots and lots of apples in all kinds of varieties. There are games for the kids and plenty of crafts as well as good food from lots of food trucks situated around the square. I thought about walking over there after church yesterday and picking up something good for lunch. I wanted to get one of my favorites which is cabbage and noodles and potatoes pancakes with sour cream or apple sauce. But due to the heat midday I stayed home instead. I’d already picked up some apples and apple cider in honor of the occasion Apple cider season is now well into swing also and I love it.
Traditionally it rains for Apple Festival weekend, but not this year. The weather was beautiful but hot, so there was a good attendance. Our church parking lot is always full of people going to the festival. This morning we are having a few showers and it’s cooling down today to low 70’s. What a difference a day makes.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Nothing so delicious than an apple! The Apple Festival sounds like fun, Ma! We got some rain here this morning; heard parts of the valley were flooded due to how much heavy rain was gotten. Good to get any type of moisture in the desert as long as it doesn't cause too much damage.

Potato pancakes with sour cream was a sure hit in my childhood home! I love all sorts of festivals, but haven't heard of anything around here just yet. I don't suspect Autumn will arrive in Alabama until mid-October.
