ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7TH, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Lighthouse Day which celebrates the US Bureau of Lighthouses created on August 7, 1790 which placed lighthouses under federal control. A lighthouse is a tower, or other type of structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and is used to aid navigation for the maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways. Light houses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals , reefs, and safe entries to harbors and also assist in aerial navigation.
Once widely used, the number of operational lighthouses has declined due to the expense of maintenance and replacement by modern electronic navigational systems.
The oldest existing lighthouse in the U. S. is the Sandy Hook Lighthouse in New Jersey. which is still in operation. Modern lighthouses are more functional and less picturesque and usually use solar charged batteries and have a simple stionary flashing light visiting on a steel skeleton tower.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
I feel that we’re all lighthouses, and my job is to shine my light as brightly as I can to the darkness.
Jim Carey
We are told to let our light shine in the darkness letting others know where they can find safely and shelter from the storms of life. Each of us can be a guiding light to someone in need.
The picture above is the closest lighthouse to me in our area. Not far from home at all and by the beach I most frequent on the coast of Lake Erie.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A lighthouse doesn’t save the ships; it doesn’t;t go out and rescue them, it’s just this pillar that helps to guide people home.
Lea Michele
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7315.for lighthouses shining a beacon of light for all
7316. for our wonderful lake Erie beaches
7317. for DD and her hubby who took me along for a ride
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Lighthouse don’t go running all over an island looking for boats to save, they just stand there shinning.
Anne LaMott
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Beautiful views! I have visited one lighthouse in Point Loma in the San Diego area. It was fascinating to see and explore. So true we are supposed to be the light of the world so like the lighthouse, we need to let our light shine!
betty
Point Loma here too! The old lighthouse is from the 1890s (I think) and is now a tourist attraction. The newer replacement lighthouse is closer to the shore, better against fog. Lighthouses are so beautiful.
I would love to live closer to a coastline! I love to see lighthouses when I travel.....
Until today, I didn't realize lighthouses had such history! Love how they symbolize the way home.
