ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY,AUGUST 31ST, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Trail Mix Day which is an ideal day to enjoy the snack that has been popular with hikers for years. Trail mix is a combination of dried fruit, grains, nuts and sometime chocolate, developed as a snack food to be taken along on hikes.
Trail mix is said to be an idea snack food because it is lightweight, easy to store and is nutritious, providing a quick energy boost from the carbohydrates in the dried fruit or granola and sustained energy from fats in the nuts.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side .
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
.
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Having done a lot of hiking in my day I’ve eaten a lot of different kinds of snack mixes. They are all good, but here is a trail mix recipe tor fall that I’ll be including on my dessert table. tomorrow.
Candy Corn Snack Mix
3 c chocolate M & M candies
2 c. candy corn
3 o 4 c. dry roaoted salted peanuts
Toss everything in a bowl and give it a stir and enjoy. It’s a magical combination.
I’ve been busy setting out desserts and plates cups and plastic silverware here at my house in prep for tomorrow. I’m not sure what it could be but I have a feeling I’ve forgotten something. The table is full already. There’s so much to share with everyone and the thing is that there will be more coming as everyone is bringing something to share also. Good thing I have the sofa table and the tea cart to set out more on. I can hardly wait to see what everyone else prepares. All that’s left for me to get is the ice cubes and ice cream which I’ll get tomorrow morning.
I’m bound to gain a pound or two, but I’ll have fun doing it for sure! I’m not cooking for the weekend, but instead will take advantage of several freezer meals I’ve put away from psst leftovers. I’ve got to make room for the IceCream anyway! Thank goodness for the freezer.
Today’s pictures are of one of DS#6’s family hikes earlier this summer.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.
John Muir
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7384. for easy snacks that provide energy
7385. for leftovers always good
7386. for a nice large table to sit things on. and plenty of chairs too.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

The last few days of summer are bittersweet...
I recently saw a cartoon of two bears hiding behind some trees while a bunch of hikers pass by. The caption: "Look! Trail mix!" :)
I'm so looking forward to reading your 'just desserts' menu and seeing the yummy spread!
Strange to think that fall is only 3 weeks away.
Beautiful hiking areas! Your trail mix recipe looks good too! I'm with Myra, I want to hear your dessert menu. It is such a great idea with your party! My DIL's birthday is next Saturday. She's having a few of her friends/kids over to swim and we're going to do pizza and Caesar salad. I have already started to make lists of things I need to get done and I'm sure I'll probably forgot something down the line.
