ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY,AUGUST 20TH, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is World Mosquito Day which was first established in 1897 when the link between mosquitoes and malaria trannsmission was discovered by Sir Ronald Ross. It aims to raise awarenesss about the causes of malaria and how it can be prevented, as well as fundraising for research into a cure of malaria. It is also a salute to the grownbreaking work of Sr Ross and the scientists who have followed him.
The London School of Hygiene dn Tropical Medicine celebrates this day with exhibitions and parties designed to both entertain and to inform, while other celebrations include Malaria No Mores’s Mozzy Air complagne encouraging people to take anti malarial when flying to malaria zones and Nothing But Nets twitter campaigns to provide mosquito nets for poor communities.
It’s a good time to support fundraisers to provide nets or quinine, distributing information about the precautions people should take when traveling to danger spots or celebrating the achievements of research into misquitoes and how to prevent the diseases they carry.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
It’s not so much how busy you are, but why.The bee is praised, the mosquito is swatted.

Mosquitoes are pests and a nuisance and spread a lot of diseases. Getting rid of them isn’t always easy so it’s a good thing we have a day to remind us of the medical research done so we can prevent malaria. Thankfully I don’t live in a tropical zone, where they are the big problem. We have them here, but not to the extent where we have to worry about Malaria. They do carry other diseases though and we should be aware of them and take preaustions such as using insect repellant spray to avoid mesquite bites. Some years we’ve had cases of the West Nile Virus and when that occurs they often will do an aerial apray of mosquito infested areas. Some times it’s best just to cover up and wear head to toe covering. But that can get uncomfortable when it’s hot out.
There’s nothing good to be said about mosquitoes that’s for sure. Since I have a an enclosed patio that has screens in the windows to prevent bugs from coming in and I burn citronella candles when I’m outside, I feel pretty safe and comfortable when sitting out in the evenings That is what the pictures are of today.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try going to bed with a mosquito.

Fight the bite...better to be safe than sorry.
I've had less mosquito bites this summer but then we've had less rain than previous summers. It is a concern though with the diseases they carry!

In the words of my DD mother, "Horrors!" (*smile*)
Ever since I was little, I've been one of the unlucky souls mosquitos are most attracted to. That was a non-issue, in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona … but gosh they're making up for lost time. I keep an oversize men's shirt by the back door to slip on before going out.
Then again, things could always be worse!
