ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY,AUGUST 23RD, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Ride the Wind day which is a day to enjoy the last days of summer and the warmer summer breezes. It commemorates the anniversary of the first human powered flight to win the Kremer prize. It was on August 23rd of 1977 that the Gossamer Condor 2, flew the first figure eight course specified by the Royal Aeronautical Society at Minter Field in Shafeter California. Slowing crushing at only 11 Mph, it traveled a distance of 2, 172 meters.
We all know that cooler air is right around the corner so take advantage of these nice days to get outside as much as possible. The Summer breezes allow us to fly human powered .There is no better feeling than the wind in your hair as you look out at a beautiful horizon. Ride the Wind Day is an excellent opportunity to marvel at all things flying. Wind powers movement in many different ways, helping us travel, throwing air and over water with energy to use in our homes. Take to the air and learn about piloting a glider or consider being a passenger. In the event you lack a human powered aircraft, flying a kite is always a good back up plan. Children will love making paper areoplanes or other flying toys and watching them zoom through the air.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
I love the feeling of the fresh air on my face and the wind blowing through my hair.
Evel Knievel
The only thing that will be flying here at my house today is probably my hair as the wind blows it when I go outside. But I do love the feeling. It’s been in the low 70’s here for a few days and I’m loving these last days of summer and am not looking forward to the cold winds of winter at all. Thankfully, Fall is a nice time when we usually have to some lovely days to enjoy. For the most part from September until November, we have milder days that are nice to get outside. Not too hot or too cold. We had a very wet Spring so I’m hoping it will be a drier fall. They say we are above the needed perciptitation for our area, so we don’t have to worry about drought.
In keeping with meatless Friday’s tonights dinner will be
Crustless Pierogi Quiche
Pierogies are fine on their own, dipped in sour cream but they become a substantial, dinner worthy meal when you bake them into a crustless quiche
Serves 6
1 16 oz. box potato and cheddar pieogies
1 tbsp. buter
1 smal red ell pepper, thinly sliced
1 c. mushrooms, sliced
3 c. baby spinach
2scallions, sliced
1 1/2 c. milk
3 eggs
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 c. shredded Asiago cheese
Preheat oen to 350 degrees. Boil pirogues as box directs. Melt butter in 12 inch skillet over medium heat. Add red pepper slices and mushrooms. Cook, stirring frequently about 5 minutes or until just tender. Remove to bowl with slotted spoon. Add spinach and scallions to drippings remaining in skillet. Cook about 4 minutes until wilted. Remove to bowl with vegetables;
Grease a 3 quart casserole dish. Beat milk, eggs, salt and pepper in large bowl until all mixed. Add vegetables, cheese and cooked perigees. Pour mixture into prepare casserole dish. Bake 40 minutes or until mixture is puffed and golden.
This a new recipe for me, but it does sound good!
Today’s pictures are of a few of the grand babes enjoying these last days of summer.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
When everything seems to be going against you, remember the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.

Swinging was a fun time when I was young and I did a lot of it. Your weather sounds so wonderful as it is still very hot here and we do have a breeze but it is a hot one. Happy Friday.
