ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is World Sauntering Day which aims to remind us to take it easy, smell the roses, look at the sky, slow down and enjoy life as opposed to rushing through it.
The verb sauntering describes a slow type of walking during which you are able to enjoy the world around you.
You can spend your life walking through life, jogging through life, or being dragged through life. But life is more enjoyable if you saunter through it.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It is important from time to time to slow down, to go away by yourself, and simply be.
Eileen Caddy
This is definitely a day for me. I live life in the slow lane these days. I only have one speed and that is slow. There isn’t anything that is fast about me. Ha! I’ve learned that it’s true what they say, you do see more and enjoy more when you slow down.
Since we’re to slow down today I thought it might also be a good day to use my slow cooker and I found a delicious new recipe to try out. This recipe calls for canned corn, but if you happen to have fresh, that would be good too.
Slow Cooker Summer Corn Chowder
Makes 6 servings
4 c. diced potatoes
2 c. chicken broth
1 can whole kernel corn, undrained
1 can cream style corn
1 onion, chopped
8 slices bacon cooked and crumpled
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 can evaporated milk
Spray slow cooker with cooking spray. In cooker, mix all ingredients except the bacon and evaporated milk
Cover and good on low for 6 to 8 hours until potatoes are tender. Just before serving increase heat to high and stir in milk. Cover and cook 5 minutes until chowder is hot. Top with crumbled bacon. I like to serve mine with toasted garlic bread.

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going to fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.

Nature is beautiful...soup is good...
We use to hike and seeing the pictures stirs old memories. Hope the soup turns out as good as it sounds.
It looks like your son's family was "sauntering" along some beautiful trails! I like sauntering myself unless I'm chasing after the wee one, LOL. It is true, the slower we go the more we see and enjoy in life. That recipe looks delicious and easy! Might make it sometime this summer.

Oh, I wish Tom liked kernel corn. Maybe I could bring this to a chuck pot-luck?
Love how your son and family enjoy spending time in the great outdoors.
Oops! A "church" pot-luck, I meant!
