ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Paul Bunyan Day which honors one of the best known heroes in American Folklore. This legendary lumberjack and his faithful companion Babe the Blue Ox starred in many of the tall tales told in the Midwest during the 1800’s.
According to the stories, Bunyan was a huge man with amazing strength. He single handedly founded the logging industry, cut down whole forests in North Dakota and created Lake Superior with his bare hands, and even trained carpenter ants to help him with his tasks.
Today, Paul Bunyan is mentioned in more than 1,000 books and has become one of the most widespread Icons in American culture.
To celebrate today, read one of the original Bunyan tales!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.
Rudyard Kipling
There is a lot of history told in the tall tales and folklore of days gone by. We just can’t believe everything we read, but in between the lines the stories are told of the many trials people had to go through. In some cases they are exaggerations of actual events.
The tales of these legendary heroes were told over and over. And as the way of many of the things we we say, they got exaggerated with the telling. People tend to get carried away when they repeat stories they’ve heard.
It’s just like the news we read or hear, not everything is true. We cannot believe everything we hear. Some make the world out to be a terrible place, but in truth there is a lot of beauty and good to be found.
It’s Friday and the end of another work week for many. There’s no denying the fact that not a lot was done here at my house, nothing worth telling about for sure, but I enjoyed every day and that’s what counts.
I’ve no Paul Bunyan pictures to show today, but am sharing some fish tales shared by DS#6 last year.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Story telling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today.
Robert McKee
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7198. for tall tales and heroes of history
7199. for the gift of another week
7200. for our beautiful world
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Pay heed to the tales of old wives. It may well be they alone keep in memory what it was once needful for the wise to know.
J.R.R. Tolkien
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

We keep history alive when we tell the stories...
They looked like they were having fun fishing last year! It is good to tell stories of the past and even the legends are good. Helps to preserve our history and also to teach kids about our history too.

I don't recall Kipling, but the Paul Bunyan stories were some of my childhood favorites!
