ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Corn on the Cob Day which a a favorite summertime treat. Some like to boil the corn or to put in it tin foil and then on the grill. Others say the only way corn on the cobs should be enjoyed is to soak the corn, husks and all, in sugar water an hour. When the grill is good and ready, transfer them to the grill. When the husks, get good and black on the outside , the corn should be ready. Peel back the husk and dip in melted butter an generously apply salt.
Any way you fix it, celebrate today and enjoy some corn on the cob.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well
Virginia Woolf
While we won’t have any fresh corn on the cob here until sometime in July, it’s been available in the grocery store for quite awhile. I’m one who usually boils my corn in water to cook it, but have enjoyed cooked it in the husks on a grill outside too. I’ve even had it cooked in the husks in a microwave oven.
There is nothing better, besides a fresh tomato, that can say summertime is here. I can hardly wait until the farm markets have some fresh produce to buy. Many of my summertime meals are made up of nothing but vegetables and that is what the pictures are of today.
The grocery ads come in the mail today so I’ll be checking to see who has the bust buy on corn on the cob. It usually doesn’t cost a lot but it is a very good treat. The fresher, the better it is.
I shop the ads and plan my weekly menu around them. Thankfully I have several stores to choose from that are close by.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

Nothing says good eating better than summertime!
Those plates of veggies look delicious, Ma! So healthy too! My mom would shop the ads too. The ads back then came out Wednesday so we would go and buy a paper and then she would plan the next week's shopping and meals on the best prices. We learned a lot of budgeting that way.
Nothing better than the first piece of corn on the cob in the new season! Always so delicious no matter how it is cooked.

Yes, those fresh veggies look wonderful! I bought some good-looking tomatoes at the Farmers Market just this morning. No corn on the cob just yet. I've never tried making corn this way, but some people prepare theirs using an ice chest full of boiling water.
I am having corn on the cob tonight and I didn't even know it was Corn ON The Cob Day!!
I love tomato sandwiches in the summer, nothing better!
I'm making a squash casserole tonight using fresh squash from the ranch garden! AND we have corn on the cob from the grocery store. Our main dish is chicken and I'm going to steam some asparagas so the entire meal won't be cream and yellow in color!
I'm still watching for the Tomato Man that sells fresh garden produce by the side of the road down here. Nothing as good as a home grown tomato!
