ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Sewing Machine Day which is one of the iconic symbols of the Industrial Reveultion, representing the transition form traditional handmade goods to automated production.
For many decades the sewing machine was a standard household appliance , but is no longer considered a domestic necessity. Although the heyday of the sewing machine has come and gone, we can still recognize its significance in our history. Without this important invention the making of clothing and any hand sewn item, would be extremely tedious. Each article would have to be sewn by hand, stitch by stitch.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Sew much to do, sew little time
I have a sewing machine that hasn’t been used in quite a while but it sits in my craft nook ready and waiting. I’ve material, patterns, and thread on hand so I do have things to sew, it’s just not high on my priority list.
One of grandmothers taught me how to sew on her treadle sewing machine and when I got my own sewing machine later on, I also got a free sewing class. It was called stretch and sew and taught me how to sew polyester material. You had to stretch the material just a little in order for things to turn our right.
These days my sewing is often done in the form of mending. Sewing seams together that have come out or patching up some worn out items. When I recently visited with my youngest son, he’d asked me to show him how to use the machine they’d purchased. Sadly, we never did get around to it. In the busyness of the days, it was forgotten. The newer sewing machines do so much more than my old machine does, so I may or may not have been able to help him out anyhow.
Today’s pictures are not of my sewing machine, but of the baseball game I went to yesterday evening. However I’m pretty sure baseball gloves are sewn together. I have been wanting to see a baseball game and had it on my summer Bucket List to do, so now I can check that off as having been done. Thanks to our X factor and DD I got to watch his ball game yesterday evening.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!

Sewing may not be a necessity like it once was, but I can recommend it as a wonderful hobby.
I have had my sewing machine for over 40 years and made many clothes when the hubby and I were competing in Fast Draw but now it is used more for mending.
That's great that you got to see a baseball game! I hope X Factor's team won, but I know he was happy to have you there watching him play! Mark that off your bucket list!
My mom sewed a lot and I did too up until the kids came along and then not enough time to do it. So many cute things can be made if one has a sewing machine!
betty
My mother sewed almost all my clothes ... but I have to admit there were times I begged for something 'store-bought.' Even having taken Home Economics in school, I never caught on; my best friend had to finish my project -- a granny gown -- at the 11th hour.
