ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Flip a Coin Day which is an easy option to make decisions. One side of the coin means yes, while the other side means no. Even hard decisions can be made in les than one minute and any kind of coin is suitable. If the first result is unwanted it is possible to flip the coin several times and take the answer that showed up the most frequently.
Flipping a coin can also be used to decide who out of two is supposed to do something, like for example cleaning up or paying for the bill. There are uncountable ways to join in Flip a Coin Day, all it takes is a coin.
If you can't see Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing you can do is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
Theodore Roosevelt
Flipping a coin is a popular way to make choices. I can remember the days when I first started driving and got my first car. Just for the fun of it, I’d get in the car with my sisters and we’d flip a coin to see which road we should take. Back then driving was a pleasure and I couldn’t seem to get enough of it. The traffic wasn’t like it is now and every ride was a new adventure.
I don’t drive as much as I used to these days and don’t enjoy it like I used to either, but still every day remains a new adventure to me. We just never know what surprise might lie right around the corner.
Today is my day to do some cooking for the weekend. I found some chicken breasts in the freezer and so today I’ll be making some Chicken Paprikas. It’s something I’ve not had in a long time and usually only fix it for company. I found a new recipe that I’m going to try out. It’s not the one I usually use so we’ll see how it turns out. Sometimes it’s better to stick with the tried and true.
Chicken Paprikas
2 lbs. chicken pieces, Legs and thighs are preferred, but any type of chicken piece will work.
Salt
3 tbsp. butter
2 onions, sliced
pepper to taste
2 Tbsp. paprika, preferably Hungarian
1 c. chicken broth
1/2 c. sour cream
Brown the chicken pieces in melted butter. Let them cook about 5 minutes until well browned and turn them over and brown the other side . Remove from pan and set aside. Sauté the sliced onions and cook them until lightly browned. Add the paprika and pepper to the onions and stir to combine. Add the chicken broth, place chicken on onions and cover and cook on low about 20 minutes.
When the chicken is cooked through, remove pan from heat and stir in sour cream and salt to taste. Turn the heat on just to warm it through. You can serve with dumplings, rice, egg noodles or potatoes. My favorite is homemade noodles, and I stir them in the with the chicken and sour cream mixture and let them cook on low for about 20 minutes so they absorb the flavors.
My yard is full of puddles and today’s pictures are of our friendly neighborhood ducks who happened to find one big enough to swim in. It’s a hole where they took out a tree stump after cutting down one of the trees around here.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Every day is a new adventure!
Your recipe sounds good! I’ve never made that fish before! I need to make some new food for us today. Most of our leftovers are gone now and nearly all our fresh fruits and veggies. Probably make a trip to the grocery store on our way home from church tomorrow.
When it rains at the ranch the ducks find all sorts of new little lakes to swim in! It’s really muddy down there right now! They had s hard time getting out yesterday to go to the feed store. We are going down Friday and I hope the mud is mostly dry by then!
Wishing you a good weekend!
Chicken and sour cream … and I'm SO there! I hope you enjoy this new recipe as well as your tried-n'-true. I remember those carefree "pick a direction, any direction" car trips with my best friend. For a quarter's worth of gas we could cruise all day!
You had such cute visitors in your area. Flipping a coin is a great way to solve some of life's simple decisions.
