ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Flag Day which the commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14th, 1777. The first flag, which featured 13 stars and 13 stripes, has become known as the Betsy Ross flag. The American flag, also known as Old Glory or Star Spangled Banner has changed over the years. There have been 27 different American flags over the course of our nation’s history. The one we use today features 50 stars and became our national emblem in 1960. Each of the 50 stars represent the states and the 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies that became the first states .
President Woodrow Wilson designated Flag Day as an official holiday in 1916. It’s a time to reflect on the foundations of our nation’s freedom and remember our loyalty to our nation.
To celebrate today, decorate your home with an American flag.
Today is also National Strawberry Shortcake Day and National Flip Flop Day
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Ev'ry heart beats true ’neath the Red, White and Blue.
George M. Cohan
Here at my house I have placed flags in the flower boxes that sit on the side of my carport. They are visible from the street so anyone passing by can see them. I’m proud to be an American and show my patriotism by flying the flag.
The end of another work week has come and I must say that I didn’t do much work at all. Nothing much had to be done, so I took advantage of the fact and spent some lazy days doing a lot of nothing. One thing about retirement is that you can pretty much do as little or as much as you want to.
On the bright side, I've loved every minute of it. I may not have a lot or do a lot, but am content to be who I am and enjoy what I have.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Oh say, does that star spangled banner yet waive,
O’re the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Francis Scott Key
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Fly your flag today! Hip, Hip Hooray for the U.S.A.
You worked hard a lot in your working years and raising a family, Ma, so you should enjoy the downtime you have now to plan your days how you want them. It is good that you take the time to do what you want to do, even if it is not doing much! I'm wearing my flip-flops today!

Yours is a great way to get around the 'no flag mount' issue you mentioned last year! Unfortunately, the storms that blew through here last week broke the mounting hardware clean off the roof's edge … so our flag remains perched in the corner until Tom can get up there and repair it.
