ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Hug a Bear Day which is the perfect day to give a big hug to your favorite teddy bear.
Modern stuffed animals were first introduced the 1830’s but they were homemade with cloth and straw. Stuffed animals were not popular in the US until 1906 when President Theodore Roosevelt inspired the production of the first Teddy Bear.
Celebrate today by snuggling up with your favorite Teddy Bear or buy a new one. You can even give out extra big Bear hugs to friends and family.
Happy Hug a Bear Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Hug Department: Always Open

I love bear hugs so if I get a chance today that is how I will be celebrating. The only teddy bear I have any more is the cute bear pictured above. He is part of my fall decorations and has a place of honor here at my house.
They say it may be quite windy today and hopefully that will help things to dry out here. It will also cause the leaves to fall . A windy Wednesday is ok with me. Maybe tomorrow I’ll be able to finish up leaf duty for this week.
We are getting colder and I saw that S word in the long range forecast for next week. I had hoped the trees would be bare before that happened. But no matter, whatever the weather I’ll be cozy and warm.
I finally got the tablecloth changed and the dining room table decorated for the month of November. All the other decorations around the house remain the same until after Thanksgiving.
I fixed the last remaining acorn squash here from our last trip to the famers market, they do keep well. So I thought I’d share a recipe for acorn squash with you all today.
Classic Baked Acorn Squash
1 acorn squash
1 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tsp. maple syrup
dash of salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Using a strong knife, cut the squash in half lengthwise. Use a spoon to scoop out seeds. Score the insides sever times with a sharp knife. Place each half in a baking pan cut side up. Add about 1/4 inch of water to the bottom of pan so that skins don’t burn and squash doesn’t get dried out.
Coat the inside of each half with 1/2 tbsp. butter. Add a dash of salt. Add a Tbsp. of brown sugar. Dribble on a tsp. of maple syrup.
Bake for about 60 minutes or until squash is very soft and the tops are browned. Do not undercook. Spoon any of the sugar sauce that has not been absorbed over the exposed areas.
Delicious!
Today is my day to get out and about with a few errands and a little grocery shopping. I don’t need much. Here’s hoping I don’t blow away! We’re to have a high of 45 degrees and a low tonight of 34. BrrrChill!
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

I'm so glad you shared this recipe, Pam! Only in restaurants have I tasted acorn squash, but it's so tasty … and comforting. 'Suppose I was too lazy to look up the directions before.

Come see me sometime? :)
I too am glad that you shared the recipe for the acorn squash. We had butternut squash a few weeks ago and I liked that. Always wanted to try acorn squash though. Think I'll be making this soon. Windy days are great if one can be inside :)

And a big Bear Hug to you Pam! Thanks so much for the squash recipe! When I was a child I didn’t like squash, but as an adult I love it. Your autumn decorations are lovely. I need to decorate more than I do. You are inspiring me! God bless! Xoxo
