ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Homemade Bread Day which is all about enjoying and appreciating fresh homemade bread. Bread is a staple food prepared by baking a dough of flour and water and is popular around the world and is one the worlds oldest foods. Bread has been prepared for at least 30,000 years.
Fresh bread is prized for its taste, aroma, quality, appearance and texture. With the holidays right around the corner, baking season is in full swing. While the focus may be on pies for Thanksgiving, we can’t forget about the bread.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We gather together to ask the the Lord’s blessing...
Back in my grandmother’s day baking bread was done every day. She made biscuits every morning. There was rarely a loaf of bread on her table. White bread, as she called it, was a treat. Truthfully, I’d rather have her biscuits.
She taught me many things, including making biscuits so I thought I’d share a recipe for them today. She used bacon drippings instead of shortening in hers, but this is not my grandma’s biscuit recipe.
Flaky Mile High Biscuits
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking power
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter, cut into cubes
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. butter melted
Preheat ove to 450 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Add butter, using your fingers to work the butter into dry ingredients until it resembles course crumbs. Add buttermilk and stir until soft dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead the dough 3 or 4 times until it comes together. Roll the dough into a thick rectangle. Cut out 10 to 12 rounds using a biscuit cutter.
Place biscuits on prepared baking sheet, then place in freezer 15 minutes. Remove from freezer and brush tops with butter. Place in oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm
This morning I have a ham in the oven for today’s family feast. I’ve made a fruit salad to share, and pies too. I even made up a container of Blessing Mix to take along. I’ve already shared the recipe for that. I didn’t put it into individual bags, but they can help themselves to a scoop or two to snack on.
Today’s pictures are of our family feast last year. On the real Thanksgiving day I’ll be sharing pictures of this year’s celebration.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
Ralph Waldo Emmerson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6529. for a special day to give thanks
6530. for all the abundance in our lives
6531. for my grandmother who taught me so much
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Thanksgiving wasn't meant to be just for one day. Make every day to give thanks.
Have an absolutely wonderful time at your Thanksgiving celebration today, MA. I can't wait to see the pictures. I'll bet your home smells sooooo good with that ham baking!! Love, Andrea xoxo
Yummy with the ham! I'm sure it will be a great family celebration! Enjoy!! I love bread and could eat a whole loaf of it myself, but have to limit it these days watching our diets :)
betty
Enjoy your day of family and good food. I can smell the ham from here. My favorite. 😁🍂🍁⛄🍗🍴
Those biscuits sounds wonderful, Pam! I don't recall my g'mother nor my mom ever making 'from scratch.' What a super menu your family will enjoy. I hope your celebration is great fun, and I'm looking forward to your photos!
You have some darn cute kids there!
Biscuits are so amazing. Forget the McD and Carl's Jr. biscuits. All that can be tasted is bk. soda. and the middle is almost doughy. Your g-ma did it right.
How wonderful that you are able to get together with family like this Pam! Your grandchildren are growing up so quickly. What a lovely family you have. I used to love it when my mother baked bread. My ex husband was our bread baker. My kids grew up on homemade bread. I loved earing about your grandma and her baking biscuits. Family traditions are wonderful things. God bless! xoxo
