ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Veterans Day which recognizes and honors all the military veterans who have served our country. November 11th is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended WWI. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 an armistice between Germany and the Allied nations came in to effect.
President Wilson proclaimed the first Armistice Day in 1919, and President Eisenhower changed the name to Veterans Day in i954.
There are over 21 million veterans living in the United States. Today we honor all of those men and women for their patriotism and their willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good of our country. It is often marked by parades and church services and in many places the flag is hung at half mast. A period of silence may be held at 11 am.
As Veterans day falls on Sunday this year, it is designated as a Federal holiday on Monday, November 12th. Most government offices will be closed as well as the Postal Service and banks.
Always remember and never forget the 11th hour, the 11th day of the 11th month

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
And I’m proud to be an American
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
Lee Greenwood
The most recent veterans in our family are DS#2 and his wife. They both served our country for over 20 years and are now retired military. So I decided to feature them in the pictures above. I started the prayer for our military, that is always included in my post, years ago during my son’s tour of duty.
Our brave people in the military should be honored every day as they are always there to protect us every day. So I continue to pray for them as well as those who serve our communities as Police Officers, Firefighters and Paramedics and EMT’s.
It has been cold here and in the pictures below I’m showing our first snow of the season taken from the porch yesterday morning. The wind has been howling and more and more leaves are falling too.
Today I’m off to church and bundled up to keep warm and saying special prayers for our Veterans, we will always remember and never forget the sacrifices made for us.
Lunch is ready to be heated up when I get home as the cooking got done yesterday. There is nothing but relaxing on my agenda.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6511. for our veterans all
6512. for leftovers
6513. for a Sunday well spent, it brings a week of content
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

You know, I LOVE that song. God Bless the USA, indeed! … as well as your son and DIL's unselfish service.
Thanks for sharing this pix of your wagon-wheel chili. It looks both pretty and delicious!
Once church concludes I think I'll take a cue from you, change into my warm glad-rags and RELAX!
I love that Lee Greenwood song, too! Thank you to your sons for their service. My Louis Dean was in the army. Not a career as your sons, but he did serve. We have so much to be thankful for. I’m thankful for every visit I make here to your blog. I feel like we’ve become good friends and I always leave here feeling blessed to know you. Wishing you a wonderful Sunday! I’m about to get ready for church myself.
Always thankful to the veterans and their families for their faithful service, as well as the current members of our military. They do a job I don't think I could do. You sound like you have a great day ahead planned to keep out of the chill and enjoy some tasty food!
