ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Election Day 2018 which is a day to exercise your rights as a citizen of The United States of America and cast your vote.
Election Day is the day set said by law for general elections of federal public officials It is statutorily set as the Tuesday next after the first Monday in the month of November. The earliest possible date is November 2nd and the latest possible is November 8th. Many state and local government offices are also voted on Election Day. Local elections include offices of municipalities, counties and local issues.
It is a public holiday in some states but in others it is only required that workers be permitted time off to vote.
Today is a day to vote, celebrate and make democracy work. Remember every vote counts!!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you don’t vote, you lose the right to complain.

I have voted and have done so for many years. I’m thankful for the privilege and honor. I may be only one person and believe that one person can make a difference. There were a few years early on in my marriage, that I thought that it did me little good when it came to voting as DDH votes canceled out everything I voted for. We had very different opinions when it came to voting, but I kept on voting anyway.
A lot of poling places also have a bake sales nearby. I remember one of the schools I attended where the parent teacher association always took advantage of the day and did a bake sale for a fund raiser. One of the favorites of any bake sale seems to be chocolate brownies. So I found a delicious brownie recipe to share today. Of course chocolate and peanut better tops them all.
Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies
For the peanut butter swirl
3/4 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. butter, melted
3/4 tsp. salt
For the chocolate brownie batter
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. butter melted
1 3/4 c. cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 eggs
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
to make the peanut butter swirl:
Stir the powdered sugar, peanut better, melted butter and salt together
To make the chocolate brownie batter:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Coat a 9 by 9 inch pan with non stick spray and line with parchment paper.
Put the sugar, melted butter, cocoa, and salt in bowl and stir together. Stir in eggs.
Add flour and baking powder and mix until smooth. Stir in vanilla and pour half the batter into the prepared pan.
Drop about half of peanut butter swirl mixture in dollops over the surface. Swirl with the tip of a knife. Layer the remaining brownie batter on top and repeat the peanut butter swirl.
Bake for 45 to 60 minutes or until set. Cool completely then cut into squares.
Makes up to 18 brownies depending on the size you cut.
Monday turned out to be mostly cloudy and very little drying out was done here, but I did manage to do a little mulching. I’ll try to do more when it’s dryer out. Today is supposed to be much the same only warmer, with a slight chance of more rain.
It’s my day to focus on the plans for this week, and make up my grocery list from the ads that come in the mail. Some stores are offering really good sales on frozen turkeys but I really don’t have room in the freezer at all so I won’t be taking advantage of that right now. I remember the days when I worked and they gave out fresh turkeys for Thanksgiving every year. Fresh is best for sure. But I also had family at my house every year to feed.
Now my children have taken over having the holidays at their homes. And this year DD will take her turn. It’ll be up to her and her hubby to decide what kind of turkey they want. The rest of us just have to take a dish to share. We’ll celebrate on November 17th and that is not very far away at all.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Every election is determined by the people who show up.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6496. for the privilege and right to vote
6497. for bake sales, always good
6498. for a day to plan
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I heard from DS#3 and his oldest son voted for the first time today. I'm one proud grand'ma'!
I still recall my excitement the first year I was old enough to vote! Fortunately, DH and I share similar views; not sure how I might graciously handle a 'house divided.'
That's a splendid idea about holding a bake sale near the polls. Stress food (hee-hee).
That is a clever idea to have a bake sale by a voting place! I don't think I've seen it here in our experience and we have voted at a lot of schools. Right now we vote at a local high school. Hubby and me pretty much have the same opinions for voting. He is great at reading the propositions on the ballot and then sharing what they are to me and then I usually make the same decision about them that he does. His car is in the shop today so he has mine; its supposed to be done today, but if not, we'll be going to vote together at the end of the day when he gets off from work.
How exciting for your grandson to cast his first ballot! Always a time he'll remember.
We probably won't be cooking a turkey this year but buying turkeys to donate to the rescue mission and an outreach at church :)
betty
All four of my children vote and I’m so proud of that! Texas has had more absentee voting than the entire state election last time. Louis Dean loves Little Caesar’s wings so he’s going to get some and we will watch the elections like it was a football game! The suspense will be every bit as exciting as a good game. Last night we were so disappointed in the Dallas Cowboys.....
Having a bake sale at the polls is a great idea! I’ve never seen that here in Texas.
My husband and I voted too. Such a privilege! But none of my children vote and don't care about politics in the least. How DID they turn out like that?! Love, Andrea xoxo
I can remember how excited I was the first time I voted! It was so important to me and still is! I cannot imagine anyone not exercising their right to vote! It’s our voice and one of the best ways to,use it! Every vote counts! I used to love sending goodies to my children’s school bake sales! Fun fun! God bless you and thanks for,all you share! Xoxo
