ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Chocolates Day which celebrates the history of this delicious treat. Chocolate didn't find it’s way to the western world until the Spanish learned of it from the Mayan people.
From this simple beginning it has spread throughout the world to be one of the most desired treats of all social and economic classes. The Spanish fell in love with the substance and were the first to start adding sugar to it. It was consumed much like hot chocolate or coffee today. In 1829 the cocoa press was invented and with it came solid chocolate.
1847 the first chocolate bar was invented. In 1875 milk chocolate was created and every innovation from there up and out has gone towards making chocolate richer, creamier and more delicious every year.
The best way to celebrate today is to buy yourself some of your favorite chocolate today. Whether its a simple chocolate bar from your local convenience store or a rich and flavorful fruit, cream, or caramel filled dainty, you’ll have every reason to indulge.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.
Charles M. Schulz
I do love chocolate and this is one day I’ll be celebrating for sure. Every year at this time I buy a box or two of Chocolate Covered Cherries. It’s a tradition that started with my mom when I was young and still living at home. Ever since then, I’ve kept up the tradition in my own home and there is always a box of them on the table throughout the holidays. I try to limit myself to only one a day, but sometimes I do have more. :.)
Cherry cordials are available in stores mainly during the holiday season and you’ll be hard pressed to find them after the holidays end. The most popular are Cella’s, Queen Anne’s and Brach’s, but Cella’s is the oldest brand. They began making cherries in 1864, but didn’t begin large scale production unit 1929.
It’s been cold and it’s been snowy so far this week, but thankfully we only have a few inches on the ground. They say by the weekend it’ll warm up in the 40’s, but we’ll have rain. The snow will melt and all the layers of leaves on the ground will be visible once more. But it’ll be way to wet to do anything much about them. I’m not doing leaf duty in the rain. We’ll see…
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Chemically speaking, chocolate really is the world’s perfect food.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6565. for chocolate, good and good for you
6566. for family traditions passed on through the years
6567. for the snow which hid the blanket of leaves still covering the ground
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Chocolate covered cherries are a tradition for me.
We would get the Queen Anne's chocolate covered cherries here. Usually several boxes were consumed during the Christmas season. Sometimes you can find them around Valentine's Day too. My brother sends a box of See's Candy every year to us. I was tempted to tell him not to this year since we are still dieting, but then I thought I'll enjoy a piece or two of my favorites and then pass the box on to son and family for them to enjoy too.
betty
Yes, chocolate-covered cherries are legendary. (Almost as much so as those 'books' of Life Savers!) Unfortunately, in 6th or 7th grade I over-did it on sweet cherries and became violently ill. Whenever my parents would spot a box, they'd make a point of going, "Ohhh, look … wouldn't you love some?" … and chuckle at the expression on my face.
I miss that.
I overdosed on 80%dark chocolate once, hit with a massive migraine, threw up for the entire afternoon.
But Queen Anne's cordials? Oh, yes. Bring them on.
