ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Sandwich Day which celebrates one of America’s favorite foods - the sandwich! It is no coincidence that November 3rd is also the birthday of John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich. This 18th century English noble wanted to eat his meal with one hand during a 24 hour gambling event, so he instructed his servants to serve his lunchmeat between two slices of bread. To commemorate the birth of the world’s first sandwich maker, November 3rd is now National Sandwich Day!
The most popular sandwich in America is the hamburger. Chicken sandwiches are a close second. To celebrate today buy your favorite sandwich or make your own at home .
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Too few people understand a really good sandwich.
James Beard
I do love sandwiches and very often they are a meal for me. This time of year, I prefer a hot sandwich and one my favorites is a hamburger. I like hot ham and cheese sandwiches too and hot beef sandwiches with gravy are wonderful. Grilled cheese sandwiches are comfort food served with a bowl of hot tomato soup and Reuben sandwiches are a treat.
There are a lot of different kinds to choose from but today I ‘m sharing one of Ohio’s favorites - the fried Bologna Sandwich. You take a thick slice of bologna and fry it till its skin blisters and the edges turn brown. Put on a soft white bun, layered with melty Monterey jack cheese, sweet pickles and slice of white onion. Delicious !
Saturday’s are often a day for sandwiches here at my house and another favorite is Sloppy Joes. I make them the simple way with ground meat and canned Manwich sauce. I like the flavor. Cook the beef until crumbled and no longer pink stirring occasional. Stir in the sauce, heat through. Divide meat mixture evenly between buns. I usually serve them with some macaroni salad, fruit and of course dessert.
They say it is to finally stop raining here later on today. It will take awhile for things to dry out enough to do any leaf duty here, but it sure needs it. As one of my grandsons noted, the ground is covered in a bed of leaves.
It’s always good to see the sunshine, especially when you haven’t seen it in awhile. I may have to put my sunglasses on.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Sandwiches are wonderful. You don’t need a spoon or a plate.

There nothing quite like a fried bologna sandwich!
I also like fried bologna sandwiches, with mayonnaise! xx
What a cute origin of the term, sandwich! I'd never heard of fried bologna sandwiches before Tom! I don't think he puts anything on them except mayo. Hands down, my fav is a hamburger; I do believe I could eat one every day for a year and not grow bored. My mom favored grilled cheese; but sadly, I don't recall if my father favored anything in particular. He was gone so often for work.
Well, how appropriate! My husband and I did yardwork all day on Saturday and I packed us two sandwiches to take outside for our lunch. Usually I don't eat sandwiches but when we know we're going to be outside past lunchtime, I pack our lunch so we don't have to come inside to eat. We drag out a couple lawn chairs and just eat wherever we're working. Oh yes, fried bologna... now that's a treat from way back. I used to fry ring bologna, sliced up. I haven't been able to find ring bologna in several years. I wonder if Eckrich even makes it still? Love, Andrea xoxo
Sandwiches are great because you can make such a good variety of them and never get tired of eating them. As you know, we don't fall back here in Arizona, but every time the time changes I have to make a change of my work schedule on the computer to reflect my schedule and its a pain sometimes to remember how to do it. I think I got it right this time around :)
