ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Donut Appreciation Day which is a day to show your appreciation and indulge in a donut. They are a tasty treat. This is one of two Donut holidays of the year. The other was celebrated in June.
While donuts come in a large variety o recipes, flavors and toppings, we are only limited by our imaginations and ingredients at hand. From syrups and jellies to sprinkles and custards top them, fill them, bake them or fry them, donuts have a way glazing and dusting the way into our shopping carts.
Donuts are amazing !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It’s the way you ride the trail that counts.
Dale Evans
The pictures today are of DS#6 and his family as they followed the Donut Trail here in Ohio back in June. I had no idea there was such a thing. It started in 2016 and spans 80 miles and covers 12 donut shops. The trail boasts one of highest number of donut shops per capita in the Midwest. You can start at any one of the shops and snag a passport then each shop will stamp as you go. If your visit 11 of the 12 shops you get a free t-shirt at at the end. On the trail you visit lots of donut shops and eat as many or as few donuts as you like.
I do love my donuts and usually have one or two every day. As I’m always up early I usually have one with my first cup of morning coffee. I don’t consider that my breakfast though, I don’t get hungry till later on and will often have breakfast for an early lunch. Some like to call it brunch.
I’m hoping today will bring enough dry weather to get out and do some leaf duty. Things dried out pretty good on Sunday, but I’ll still have to put my muck boots on as there are a few places that are still pretty wet and I’ll have to mow around them. For the most part I do not rake leaves but mulch them with the mower.
My focus this week will be back in the kitchen cleaning out the cupboards under the sink and organizing the pantry cupboard.
Holiday tip for the day: declutter and organize and clean food storage areas.
It’s time to clean and organize the freezer unit and the pantry and take inventory of what we have and what we need to stock up on and then take advantage of seasonal sales to stock up on what is needed.
Make your own trail. Don’t moan. Don’t complain. Think positively.
Katherine Hepburn.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Every day is a good day to be alive, whether the sun’s shining or not.
Marty Robbins
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6493. for a donut to start the day
6494. for a great day trip to take
6495. for a loving family that takes lots of pictures
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The thing to remember when traveling is that the trail is the thing, not the end of the trail. Travel too fast and miss all that you are traveling for.
Louis L’Amour
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Happy trails to you...
Yum!
Love the prayer at the end. Thank you for sharing it.
What a cute idea with the donut trail. Whoever thought of that was very clever. What a "sweet" undertaking too! Its been a few years since I've had a donut, but my favorite was always the plain old fashioned ones. Those I could eat several of at a time.

Now that's one trail I could get behind. I love donuts. We have a new shop just opened here in Hutchinson. Happy Monday!
I think donuts are such a happy food! What a fun outing your son's family experienced!
Our front lawn is absolutely blanketed with leaves, but I'm reluctant to have Tom rake and bag them. This may be the first place I've ever lived where trees shed their leaves. I'm unashamedly mesmerized!
