ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Black Friday which is the official kickoff to the holiday shopping season. The name Black Friday comes from the accounting terms, in the red, and in the black. Retailers hail the day after Thanksgiving as the turning point of the year, when they transition from the red, to the black.
Retailers typically open their doors early to accommodate all the people that camp out in the parking lot the night before to take advantage of the holiday sales. Although it is the biggest day for shopping traffic, it is not always the day with the most sales. That distinction belongs to the last Saturday before Christmas with the most sales.
Happy Black Friday shopping!
Today is also Eat a Cranberry Day and National Espresso Day

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To perceive Christmas through its wrappings becomes more difficult with every year.
Elwyn Brooks White
We try to stay away from the typical frenzy of shopping the day after Thanksgiving. This year some of us are going to be traveling to a small town east and south of us. We have gone there for many years for what had been called Christmas in the Colonies, which was a huge craft show. Sadly, it’s been cancelled, but the town itself still has a way of drawing us back. It’s like taking a step back in time to the sights and sounds of the season.
Its’ a day to let go of our concerns for a while. To table problems and go for a drive and go shopping where the pace is much slower and not so frantic. The respite is precious in the scheme of things.
We’ll be exploring the candle factory there, visiting a few antique stores and gift shops and having lunch together. It’s supposed to be a sunny day, which is very rare these days and temps will be approaching 50 degrees so it’s going to be a great day to be out and about.
Today’s pictures are from one of the last times we visited there as a family and we’re hoping today will be just as much fun.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6547. for small towns, that remind me of simpler times
6548. for a day to spend with some of my family
6549. for sunshine, a rare thing indeed
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
It’s good to have money and the things money can buy, but it’s good too, to check up once in awhile to make sure that you haven’t lost the things that money can’t buy.

Have a great Friday what ever you do !
I come from a small town. I miss that small town friendliness. I still call this day the day after Thanksgiving! ☺
Your outing sounds like fun, Ma! No Black Friday shopping for me, but I heard that Kohl's here opened at 5 p.m. yesterday and stayed open all through the night, closing tonight at midnight. It would be interesting to see how many people were shopping in the wee hours of the morning.
betty
I don't think they print enough money to have me out shopping on Black Friday! Your plans sound like such a refreshing alternative! (Insert wistful emoji. :)
The little shops and small cafes you mention remind me of a few secluded acres near downtown Tampa they called Olde Hyde Park Village. It was always a big draw during the holiday season.
I hope you collect lots of happy memories from today's excursion!
It sounds like your weather is as ours was predicted, MA. It should be a wonderful day for you & your family. What a FUN tradition! I'm sorry the craft faire part of it was cancelled though. We used to have a lot more craft faires around here than we do now. I wonder if interest is as it once was years ago? Lovingly, Andrea xoxo
Like Kay, I miss being in a community where friends and family often blend.
Send us some rain; that would be a gift.
32 days? Noooo.
