ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Happy Birthday to you♥
Today is also National Fast Food Day. The concept of ready cooked food for sale can be contributed the Ancient Romans. In many cities, street stands offered hot sausages, bread, and wine to patrons on the go. Thousands of years later, in 1867 the first American fast food restaurant opened in New York. It was a hot dog stand on Coney Island.
Today, fast food is an American staple. There are over 300,000 fast food restaurants in the United States alone, making it nearly impossible to drive down the road with out going by at least one fast food chain restaurant.
Celebrate today and take part in this American tradition and enjoy National Fast Food Day.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Laughter is brightest, where food is best.

This DIL’s birthday is a very long distance celebration for me. But a card was sent out in the mail with lots of love to her and many happy birthday wishes for a very special day.
I don’t get food to go very often at all, but I often have what I call fast food. Most everything I have is quick and easy to prepare. I’m also good at saving leftovers in the freezer, that make for a fast meal when you don’t have time to cook.
I do have a few favorite fast foods and one of them is KFC. It always hits the spot, but then so does a mushroom cheese steak sandwich which we can pick up our our local Mr. Hero. Then there is a McDonald’s bacon, egg and cheese biscuit meal.
For today’s recipe I thought I’d share one of my quick and easy dinner recipes. It’s a one pot meal that is good for when you are in a hurry or don’t want to take a lot of time to cook.
One Pot Ten Minute Beef and Broccoli
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 bag, 12 oz., frozen chopped broccoli
1 bunch chopped green onions
3 c. cold cooked rice
1 cup thick teriyaki sauce
Cook beef, salt to taste, stirring frequently until brown. Meanwhile make broccoli as directed on bag. Add whites of green onions to pan with beef and cook one minute.
Stir in rice and teriyaki sauce. Cook and stir until rice is heated through. Stir in broccoli and top with green onion tops.
Serves 5
As for me I’ve been enjoying some pork roast and gravy that was leftover and stored in the freezer. I just heat it up and put on bread. It makes a delicious open face sandwich.
Today I’m making a fruit salad for tomorrow. It’s better when stored overnight in the fridge to let the flavors meld together. I’ve taken some chapped apples, grapes, mixed fruit from a can and miniature marshmallows, then mixing them all together with a small container of cool whip.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Fast food is popular because it’s convenient, It’s cheap, and it tastes good. But the real cost of eating fast food never appears on the menu.

Happy birthday to DDIL#2. That recipe looks yummy and so easy to fix! I like quick meals like that. I don't eat a lot of fast food these days, but hubby was out of town earlier in the week so I treated myself to KFC for lunch. It sure does taste good indeed!
betty
Oh yes.... a bacon, egg & cheese biscuit. That's my fave too. Happy B/D to your DIL and many many more. Oh, and yes... I love KFC also but ours isn't too good. The chicken is always greasy and cold. So I don't buy it much. Love, Andrea XOXO
I've been working around the house all day, so I'm a little on the pooped side now. Hungry, too, because all I ate for lunch was some yogurt. Splurging on some fast food for dinner sounds reeeeeally good to me right now. After all, it IS National Fast Food Day, right? We should always celebrate our holidays... :)
Your DIL is so lovely … oh, that complexion! I hope she's enjoying a great birthday.
McDonald's biscuits are the BEST! That's my fav, but Tom likes his fried chicken. Actually, the best is sold at our local Murphy's gas stations! Not sure if y'all have Jack's in Ohio, but their pork chop breakfast biscuits are wonderful.
Happy ☺ Birthday 🎂
My favorite is a teriyaki burger 🍔 at Carl's Jr.
