ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Bow Tie Day which celebrates the elegant fashion accessory usually worn by men at formal occasions. In the early days the black tie attire became a term synonymous with tuxedos with black bow ties. In recent years bow ties have become cool again . Today they are worn by many including one of my handsome grandsons shown in the picture above.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The only thing that has to be finished by next Tuesday is next Monday.
Jennifer Yane
There are not many bowties here at my house, but I do love bow tie pasta. I made up a big bowl of it yesterday and today I’m sharing the recipe.
Bacon Cheddar Ranch Pasta Salad
3 c. bow tie pasta
2/3 c. cheddar cheese, grated
6 slices cooked bacon, diced
2 or 3 small tomatoes, diced
1/3 c. broccoli, chopped
1/3 c. red onions, diced
1/3 c. black olives, optional
1/2 c. mayonaise
1/2 c. creamy ranch dressing
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. oregano
Cook and drain pasta and rinse with cold water.
Add drained pasta to large bowl. Add bacon, broccoli, onions, olives and tomatoes. Toss to combine.
Stir together the mayo, ranch dressing garlic and oregano. Mix in with pasta until well coated and serve.
This makes a nice side dish or serve as a meal for lunch. You can even add cooked diced chicken to the mix to make it more substantial. They say it is best to add the dressing just before serving.
Tuesdays are usually my day to pay the bills and make the lists of the things I hope to get done this week. A day to get organized and make plans. It’s been very hot here and some of the schools in our area that are in progress closed for the day due to the heat. Not all schools have air conditioning. Our own city schools don’t start until after Labor Day and I applaud them for their choice.
It’s definitely a day to stay in and keep cool.
I hope you all have aTERRIFIC Tuesday!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

It's not too often we have these steamy hot days. They say this is the 15th day of 90 degree weather for us this summer. On the bright side it will be cooler after Wednesday.
Thank you for the pasta salad recipe! Your grandson looks great in his bow tie!
Yes, heat can really zap you and I am so yearning for cooler weather. And wetter weather. No flowers down here at the ranch to speak of.
Such a change from last year when they covered the fields!
We are going home today and I hope all my garden flowers didn’t die while we were gone.
When I was in school it always started after Labor Day. I wish it was still that way. My grands went back to school August 20th.
Hope you have a good week!
I like your grandson's picture with the bow tie! Very dapper! That pasta recipe looks delicious! Definitely going to make it soon! I think I would add the chicken and then have it as a main meal sometime. I do agree that it is better for the schools to start back after Labor Day. I don't know why so many start earlier, with or without air conditioning.

Your grandson is such a handsome young man! He reminds me a lot of his dad.
I printed that bow tie recipe and will probably make it this week for Tom. He adores pasta, and this sounds cool and refreshing on these heavy days.
Your salad sounds and looks fabulous Pam! I adore bowtie pasta! Your grandson is looking very handsome there. I do love men in bow ties. In the Gilmore Girls, Richard Gilmore always wears a bow tie! Schools here don't start until after labour day which I think is best. We never did back home either. Although we had school in June and it was always soooo hot then also. Its hard to concentrate and do your best work when it is too hot! God bless you for all that you share. You are a real ray of sunshine! xoxo
