ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Happy Birthday to you♥
Today is also Book Lovers Day which encourages us to find a place in the shade to relax with a good book.
Reading is a great hoppy. It’s an important one, too. Employers look for it on resumes. Reading is educational, informative and relaxing. It makes up both smarter and happier people.
Book Lovers Day is easy to celebrate. Just grab an interesting book, find a quiet cozy place and crack open the cover. If you fall asleep while reading, that’s okay. It’s all part of the relaxing benefits of being a book lover.
Today is also Rice Pudding Day
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A party without cake is just a meeting.
Julia Child
While I won’t be celebrating with this son today, I did have a wonderful time at his house yesterday evening. We had a wonderful dinner together. He happens to live close by so I get to see more of him than I do my other sons. DD and her family also live close by and they are pictured above as they also joined in on the party.
Sadly most of my family lives quite a distance from where I live, but I do try to make up for the time missed when we are together. There are still more birthdays and an anniversary coming up for our family in August and unlike this birthday, with the exception of one, they are mostly long distance ones.
I do love books of all kinds but my favorite are fiction, I like historical books and also some suspense books with a little romance mixed in. I thought about giving DS#5 a book for his birthday, but decided against it and got him one of his favorite foods instead. He’s been pretty busy and with school about to start in September I figured he get more enjoyment out of that !
My old cookbook was used once again as I made his favorite cake for his birthday. The picture below is of the original recipe that I scribbled down many years ago. I was on the phone with a friend as she gave me the recipe so it is not my best writing at all. I’d even made a note as to where to find the Bundt pan. It has been well used as you can tell. I’ve been making this cake for a long time now.
It’s looking hopeful that today will be my day to get outside and cut the grass. After all the rain we had it’s finally dried out enough. The rain made the grass grow too so it needs to be done.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of councilors and the most patient of teachers.

I put 3 candles on their birthday cakes as we celebrate the past, present, and future of their lives.
Happy birthday to DDS#5! Seems like he had a great birthday celebration. I bet you know the recipe by heart for the cake but you still like to refer to it when you are baking it. We have a similar one in our family (though I've not made it in years) but always a family favorite when it is made and enjoyed.
I love to read. I've been reading from the tablet while on the treadmill these days. I think I mentioned that before. I've also started checking out e-books through our library which has opened up a lot of new reading material for me.
betty
Since you first mentioned it, I've begun the '3 Candles' tradition with my hubby and son; everyone thinks that's a super idea!
Happy Birthday to DS#5! His cake sounds yummy indeed, but I really love your handwritten page and personal notations. Today, I treasure my mom's and grandmothers' handwritten recipes.
PS - I really should be filing or straightening the house, but I think I'll read a book instead in honor of the day. LOL!
Happy Birthday 🎂 and it's always book lovers day at my house .😀
