ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Happy Birthday to you♥
Today is also Bratwurst Day which is a heavily spiced sausage usually enjoyed on a roll with mustard or by itself with a side of sauerkraut. The term bratwurst is a compound of two German words - braten which mens to fry and wurst which means sausage.
Bratwursts originated in German and have been around since the 14th century. These sausages are generally made from from pork, veal, or beef. Truly dedicated fans can attend the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival in Ohio to celebrate this historical dish.
Today is also National Roller Coaster day and this week is Elvis Week

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Life is a happy thing, a festival to be enjoyed rather than a drudgery to be endured.
Luci Swindoll
This DIL’s birthday is another long distance family celebration. As always a card was sent in the mail wishing her a very Happy Birthday. This is the 4th August birthday in our family and there are still 2 more to come! At least one of them will be close by.
While I do live in Ohio, I have never been to the Bratwurst Festival. I have traveled through Bucyrus but not when the festival was going on. It’s a small town, but is famous for its Brats.
One of my favorite ways to fix brats is with sauerkraut and here’s a recipe in case you want to make some of your own.
Simmer bratwurst in a slow cooker along with sauerkraut, apple, mustard and brown sugar to add rich deep flavor to the sausages. Serve on buns for a hearty main dish.
Slow Cooker Bratwurst and Sauerkraut
8 bratwurst links
16 oz. sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 tablespoon caraway seeds, optional
1/2 cup mustard
8 hot dog or sausage buns
Place the brats in a slow cooker and top with sauerkraut, apples and onion. And sprinkle with brown sugar and the caraway seeds it you are using. Cover and cook on low about 3 to 4 hours.
Spread 1 tbsp. mustard on each bun. Spoon some sauerkraut mixture on buns and top each with a sausage and serve.
Serves 8
Yesterday was a hot humid day but they say some rain will cool things off today. It’s looking like a day in the craft nook.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

Birthdays are a celebration and I'm going to make some of those brats today !
Happy Birthday blessings to your lovely DIL!
We love brats at our house, too. As a matter of fact, when I was reading this post earlier I had to jump up and make sure we had most of the fixings on hand. We've left-over pizza to finish today, but it's tomorrow night's supper.
LOL, I wasn't wearing my contacts and mis-read "National Roller Coaster Day" as "Nutritional Roller Coaster Day." What an apt description of my week!
Happy Birthday to DDIL#3! Lovely family they have!
Yum on that recipe! So easy to make too! Definitely on our to make list when we are through dieting and eating a little bit more "wild".
