ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Lazy Day which is our chance to goof off and definitely not to work. It comes at a good time when hot muggy weather makes it easy to kick back and be lazy for a day. If summer chores are not done by now, they can wait for one more day. It’s best spent on a hammock along with your favorite summer beverage.
Today is also National S’mores Day
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.
Charlie McCarthy
It’s the end of another work week for most and being lazy sounds pretty good right now. It’s time to take a break from work. I got the yard work done yesterday so today I’m taking time to run some errands and get away from the house for awhile.
Although my list of chores is never very big at all, it’s good to get out and leave the housework for a bit. More rain is predicted, but hopefully I get out and back without getting wet.
I may not be lazy in the the typical sense, but believe me when I say I rest more than I work on any given day. I keep busy, but rest is required in between. For me it’s just a part of getting older. But no matter what age you are, taking a break from work is necessary now and then for everyone.
Since it’s also S’mores Day I found an easy recipe for making them for a crowd in the oven.
Easy Pan O’ S’mores
9 Graham crackers broken in half, 18 squares
36 Marshmallows, cut in half
4 Milk Chocolate bars, chopped
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Place 9 graham cracker squares in a single layer on bottom of an 8 inch pan. Top with the 36 marshmallow halves. Sprinkle on chopped chocolate. Cover with remaining graham squares. Top with remaining marshmallow halves, cut side down. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until marshmallows are puffed and golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Makes 18 servings
I haven’t made this yet, but it sounds like things could get a bit sticky, so I’m thinking I’ll be sure to use some baking spray on my pan when I do.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
God has two dwellings; one in heaven, and the other in a meek and thankful heart.
Izaak Walton
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6239. for time to be lazy
6240. for a sweet treat, always good when you have a sweet tooth
6241. for umbrellas which come in handy on days like today
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

It's Friday! Relax and enjoy !
First of all.....you have such pretty feet!
I’ve been alternating busy days with slower ones. Today will be a slow day. I am secretly decorating for fall and having so much fun! I have so much fall decorations......I pack up a lot of what’s out and store it while fall and then Christmas is up and bring it back in after the holidays. We need rain so badly. It’s like feast or famine here! Some years too wet - not many though! Most years way too dry!
I bought S’mores ingredients for Easter and didn’t get a chance to make them. It was to be in an iron skillet and used Easter marshmallow chicks. I’m taking the older grands to the lake for the day next week and I think I’ll take my stuff to make them on the grill with the skillet! Thanks for the idea!
Who can resist a s'more, no matter how it is made! I like the thought of a lazy day, but LOL I don't think my supervisor would like that thought. Thankfully Sunday will be a lazy restful day. Its hard to imagine August is a third over already!
betty
Well, darn! NOW you tell me. A perfectly good opportunity to be lazy, and I've been working hard all day. No problem. Now that I've gotten my shower, I plan to do some serious relaxing. Except for cooking dinner and doing the dishes...
Have a super weekend!
Cute toes! :)
I'll be interested in knowing how these s'mores come out. I've never tasted one, mind you, but it's something to anticipate.
Unfortunately, I've been dog-paddling and being LAZY for too long now w/o a clear agenda. While I'm not anxious to return to the rat race, I do think there needs to come a change. Happy weekend!
