82 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
Sunrise: 7:53 am

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Card Playing Day which is the perfect time to spend an hour or so playing cards with family and friends. And, it arrives at just the perfect time of year, a few days after Christmas. The holiday hustle and bustle is over. The kids are getting bored of their new toys. It's time to turn to card games for a calmer, relaxing, and more slow paced form of fun and entertainment.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will.
Jawaharlal Nehru
Today is supposed to be a busy day here. Some of my children are coming in to help with some packing up. I’ve been pretty well wiped out with the cold I’ve had since before Christmas so the help is really appreciated.
The weather continues to be nice out for December, so we will take advantage of that fact while we can. It’s an iffy time of year and we never know when the next snow storm might just come our way. When they do there is little that can be done, except shovel or clear away the snow.
I did have a few pictures left on my computer of a family game night here. They were from last New Years Eve Playing cards is fun for all ages, but the little ones do tend to bend the rules and the cards. Ha!
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It's National Chocolate Candy Day! Chocolate candy is one of the most popular sweets in the world. It can be combined with everything from nuts and caramel to raisins and pretzels to make some of our favorite chocolate treats!
Goodness only knows that I do not need any more chocolate candy here at my house, but in case you do, here’s a recipe to try.
Easy Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls
1, 16 oz. container peanut butter
3/4 cup butter softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 3/4 cup powdered sugar
12 oz chocolate chips, melted
Mix the peanut butter, butter, brown sugar and powdered sugar together. Roll into 1 inch balls . Stick the dough into the refrigerator until cool. Next dip them into the melted chocolate. Set the chocolate coated ball onto wax paper and cool. Keep in the refrigerator until you are ready to eat them!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I think its good, Ma, that your family when they get together sometimes plays games together. A great way for the little ones to learn as well as time well spent together! I love card games; I just need to get into a habit to play them again. Sounds like it will be a busy day for you! Glad you are able to have some help with the work you need to get done.

Oh gosh; I've not played cards since I went on a Canasta kick in junior high!
DH, on the other hand, speaks longingly of card games with parents, aunts and uncles when they all lived in Chicago. I've never given much thought to suggesting we sit down and play. Hmmm ...
Chocolate and peanut butter sounds divine!
