5 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
9 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Re-gifting Day, which is a day to give away a gift that you received and have not yet opened to someone else! For example, gifts that you may not want might be as follows: A coffee cup from an unsavory office coworker, a television you already own, a bookshelf you do not have room for, or even a car that you cannot afford to keep.
Re-gifting Day is all about giving others gifts that you don’t have any use for, and making sure that almost anyone can have a good holiday spirit for the day
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The Lord loveth a cheerful giver. He also accepteth from a grouch.

A few years ago our family started playing the White Elephant Gift Exchange game at our family gathering for Christmas. This is a fun way to re-gift those like new things that you don’t need. Thanks to all the sorting out, I found a large laundry basket full of things to re-gift this year.
This week DD manage to once again take a truck load of stuff to the Salvation Army for me. It’s unbelievable that after all that’s been donated, there is still plenty more here. DS#5 has been a big help too and between the two of us all my white elephant gifts are wrapped now.
Hopefully today’s snow won’t be a bad one…As usual those to the east of us got plenty. Here all is clear. I saw the full moon of December in the western sky this morning and it’s terribly cold out.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Chocolaholics rejoice! Today is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day
Today, we get to enjoy our beloved chocolate by covering something, just about anything, in a generous amount of chocolate. Pour, spread, or drizzle chocolate over cakes, cupcakes, pies, pancakes or waffles, nuts, and raisins.
Chocolate Covered Brownie Bites
1 package, 19.5 ounce size, brownie mix
1 can, 14 ounce size, sweetened condensed milk
8 ounces semi sweet baking chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare and bake brownie mix per directions. While warm, cut the baked brownies into pieces. You can roll into balls if you want. Let cool.
In heavy saucepan or double broiler over low heat, melt chocolate with condensed milk. Add vanilla and butter. Mix well.
Dip brownie balls into chocolate until well coated. This process is easier if the chocolate is kept warm. Place on rack for excess chocolate to run off.
The top of the brownie bites can be decorated with chopped nuts, sprinkles, or white chocolate.
Sorry, I didn’t have a picture of brownies to share but I did have one of cup of hot soup for today.
Keep warm everyone !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!
Hamilton Wright Mabie
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4480. for lots to give away
4481. for family close by to help
4482. for chocolate covered anything
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU !

I have re-gifted a few gifts over the years with things I knew I wouldn't use but others would. Good that you were able to find the white elephant gifts you needed for this year :)

Love the quote about families. So true! I have nothing against regifting. There are many things others get that I would take! And the same with some of the things I get! Your kind of Christmas sounds fun!!
Yes, I've re-gifted every now and then. I used to feel all kinds of guilt about that, but honestly, it was stuff either I didn't like or couldn't fathom ever having a use for.
I've never had occasion to participate in a White Elephant gift exchange ... yours sounds like such fun!
