86 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
IT’S CHRISTMAS EVE

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Christmas Eve Day, which marks the start of the holiday season at the end of the year. The week between Christmas and New Years traditionally marks the time when friends and family visit and spread hospitality and Christmas cheer.
Many people will attend church for special Christmas Eve services this evening. And it’s also a time that some exchange presents. Children will hang their stockings by the fireplace in hope that St. Nick will soon be there.
Christmas Eve is a day to spend along with your loved ones enjoying the Christmas season. For many folks, Christmas Eve is just as magical and cherished a time as Christmas morning.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Christmas Eve was a night of song that wrapped itself about you like a shawl. But it warmed more than your body. It warmed your heart...Filled it, too, with melody that would last forever.
Bess Streeter Aldrich
It seems much like a normal day here at my house, but I will be attending Christmas services this evening with some of my family. The little ones will dress as shepherds and angels and I’m sure the church will be filled to capacity. If only we could carry this Christmas spirit along with us throughout the year.
It’s not going to be a white Christmas this year. We have had snow, but right now the ground is pretty bare. On the bright side that means the roads are clear for those traveling home for Christmas.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday! Happy Christmas Eve!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Eggnog Day
Whether we buy it in stores so the whole family can have a glass or make our own, eggnog has always been a staple drink for the Christmas season.
It just doesn’t seem like the Holidays if you don’t serve Eggnog. I always have a carton or two on hand in the fridge. I found a recipe for an easy to make treat which can be served for a party, as a snack while you and the kids are decorating Christmas cookies, or even package it up and give as a gift.
Egg Nog Dip
1 1/2 cups eggnog
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon rum extract, optional
Assorted fruit and pound cake cubes
In a small saucepan, combine the eggnog and cornstarch until smooth. Bring to a boil; boil and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in sour cream. Cool completely.
In a small bowl, beat whipping cream and sugar until stiff peaks form. Fold into eggnog mixture with extract if desired. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Serve with fruit and cake cubes. Yield: about 2 1/2 cups
I think this dip would be good with gingersnaps or vanilla wafers too.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4507. for those that give the gift of hospitality and cheer

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Have a wonderful .Christmas Eve with your family Pam! I hope you have a very safe journey to church and that your Christmas is filled with blessings large and small. That egg nog dip loos fabulous! Xoxo
That is interesting with the eggnog dip. I was wondering what it would be served with, but fruit seems just about right.
Glad the weather will be somewhat pleasant for those traveling in your area. Where we used to live in Prescott, they are under a winter storm advisory with possibility of 3-5 inches of snow. Thankfully in Phoenix it is possibility of rain, but no white flurry flakes.
Went to the store early today to get what we needed for the week as well as for Christmas meals. It was already starting to get busy; glad we have everything we need now.

I adore eggnog, but only allow myself two glasses a year -- tonight and on New Years. (Seriously, if given the chance, I could stick a straw in the carton and down the whole thing.) I'm clipping that dip recipe tho' to share with my co-workers next Friday.
Like Betty said, we're getting some crummy weather this afternoon. 'Thought about going out to church, but it's quite a ways and I'd just as soon stay off the streets. Neither Tom or I are fond of driving after dark anymore.
Merry Christmas blessings!
