Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Human Rights Day, created by the United Nations, promotes awareness of the importance of Human Rights issues around the world. On this date in 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, stating loud and clear that no matter where we live, what we believe, or how we love, we are each individually deserving of the most basic fundaments of human needs
Human rights is something we easily take for granted in the United States. Elsewhere, freedom and basic human rights are not a given.
We can participate in this day by learning more about human rights issues around the globe. We can offer our time and money in support of a human rights issue that is important to us.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
United Nations, Universal Declaration of Human Rights
I do believe that everyone is created equal and we are all loved in God’s sight. Sad but true all are not treated equally. In this season of giving we should take time to remember those that are less fortunate.
Every day seems to fly by here at my house and I can hardly believe that one week from today, our family will gather for our annual family Christmas celebration. Two of my sons and their families live out of state, and won’t be here with us, but I’m very thankful I did get to spend Thanksgiving with them. It was a visit I’ll never forget.
I’ll have to finish up my wrapping and get cards out in the mail. Hopefully I’ll get a lot done this weekend. So far not much snow at all here at my house, but we are promised more.
Take good care all. Stay safe !
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Gingerbread Decorating Day!
This allows lots of room for creativity, and can be fun for the whole family! It can be most fun when each member of the family makes, bakes and decorates his or her own gingerbread man. Gingerbread can be decorated with many different things, from a simple icing made from just water and icing sugar, to more creative icings, like lemon or butter cream icing. Gingerbread men can also be made into cookie sandwiches, with delectable fillings made with vanilla or lemon cream, orange butter cream, or even ice cream! If you’re feeling particularly ambitious and confident, you could decide to make a gingerbread house. Gingerbread houses really allow for a lot of creativity, as they can be decorated with virtually anything that strikes your fancy, like gumdrops, candy canes, or peppermints, to name but a few.
I’m not sharing a recipe for today but the pictures are from our try at decorating Gingerbread Houses last year. It was a lot of fun and very ‘sweet’ time too!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

Your gingerbread house adventure from last year sure looked like lots of fun! I do agree that we are all created equally in the sight of God; it is sad some people even to this day disagree about that and treat others who are different than them not the same.
betty
What SHE said ... LOL. I get so cross at some folks' prejudices.
These photos bring back lots of memories, when at work years ago someone decided to hold a gingerbread-house contest. I never claimed to be coordinated, but wouldn't you agree, that's harder than it looks! Swear, I can still taste that sticky paste. :)
I loved decorating Gingerbread houses with the grands. Haven't done that for awhile but I would bet the teens would love it too! Hope you get a lot done this weekend and get ready for your Christmas!
Love your thoughts on human rights Pam and oh those little gingerbread decorators! How sweet! I have not decorated a Gingerbread anything for years and years. Maybe I will do it this year just for old times sake. Love and hugs. xoxo
