84 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
Sunrise: 7:53 am

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Thank YOU Note Day.
Tis the season to exchange gifts. It is also the season to be grateful and thankful. So sit with a cup of hot chocolate and left overs from your Christmas dinner and say thank you.
Thank you notes are traditionally hand written, though in recent years it is acceptable to send a thank you note through email or by text.
Thank You Note Day is a silly, yet wonderful little holiday that makes time with our families a whole lot more cheerful, fun, and all around happy.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Develop an attitude of gratitude. Say thank you to everyone you meet for everything they do for you.
Brian Tracy
Please consider this my THANK YOU note to all of you. Thank you all for helping to make this Christmas a great one for me. The pictures today are from Christmas Eve.
Lots of folks have today off from work since Christmas Day was on a Sunday, but there are a few that still have to head back to work today. I remember when I worked, the only way that I had the day after Christmas off was to take a vacation day.
Here the children have the whole week off and won’t go back to school till after the new year. I am retired so work is a thing in my past. That is not to say I don’t do any. Ha! It’s certainly not as much as I used to do. I do live life in the slow lane.
It’s very hard to believe but we are to be in the 50’s today. I’m going to get out and enjoy it. For most of the coming week, we’ll be back in the 30’s.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Candy Cane Day.
Yes, this veritable symbol of tasty festivity has a dedicated day, so if you ever needed an excuse to stockpile them or indulge, now you have one.
Today’s recipe is for something that can be easily made using candy canes, that is both pretty and delicious, and will be te perfect addition to your holiday desserts table.
Peppermint Bark.
1 cup crushed red and white candy canes
2 pounds white chocolate
Peppermint extract
Put the candy canes in a plastic bag and hammer into 1/4 inch chunks or smaller. Melt the chocolate slowly in a double boiler until completely melted, thich and creamy. Add most of the candy cane chunks, set a few aside, and peppermint extract to the chocolate. Pour your mixture onto a cookie sheet layered with parchment or waxed paper, top with the remaining candy cane chunks, and place in the refrigerator for 45 minutes or until firm. Lastly, remove chocolate from cookie sheet and break into pieces. Enjoy the taste of Christmas!

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I will be working today, but hubby has the day off. Good to hear the weather is going to be pleasant today for your area.

This being my 4th day off, already I'm dreading the alarm going off tomorrow morning!
Yes, sitting down at the card table to write my thank-you notes was a huge part of my childhood.
I much rather hearing a sincere smile on the other end of the telephone. Then again, long-distance calls used to be a luxury.
Both my husband and I had to work today but hey, at least there wasn't much traffic on the roads. That is looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE!
And I thank you for writing your blog!
Have a happy week and then, a happy new year! xx
