5 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Sunrise: 7:50 am

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Look for an Evergreen Day is today. To many people, only a fresh cut real tree will do for Christmas. The scent of fresh pine helps to capture the feel of the holidays. Nothing looks more real than a real tree, each one with it's own character and appearance.
There is no shortage of types of Christmas trees. Generally classified as firs, spruces, and pines, the most popular varieties have changed over the years. Personal preference will determine whether you select a short needle, or long needled tree.
If you haven't selected a tree yet, it is certainly getting late. As we researched this special day, we questioned the timing. By the 19th of December, most people have found and put up their Christmas tree. So if you are still treeless, this special day could be the day to do so.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Evergreen: Keeping Christmas fresh all year.
Evergreen is a more than a tree and it’s more than an air freshener for that matter. It’s the joy, peace and connectedness of Christmas far beyond December 25th. A well lit and decorated Christmas tree fills you with a sense of joy and celebration, just as we can we be joyful each day and celebrate every moment of our life.
A Christmas tree is deeply rooted into the ground or pot and yet points towards the sky. Its deep roots enable the tree to be strong and remain standing. Just like the Christmas tree, we too can aspire to touch the sky with our dreams and ambitions. But for that, it’s essential to have deep roots,
At the time of year when no tree bears anything, the Christmas tree has many gifts to offer and it is evergreen throughout the year. Remember a Christmas tree bears the gifts and the lights not for itself, but for all.
The message of the Christmas Tree is that life is Ever Green, if one gives: not so much material things, but of oneself: in friendship and sincere affection, and fraternal help and forgiveness, and in shared time together.
The week before Christmas here at my house is one to remember what is important in life: faith, family and friends. I’m sharing more pictures of our family Christmas today.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Oatmeal Muffin Day is today. Enjoy the cholesterol lowering benefit of oatmeal in your muffins today. That's great news... eating something that tastes good, and is also healthy to you.
Here’s a recipe for a fresh hot treat to start your morning!
Oatmeal Muffins
1 Cup of milk
1 Cup of Quick Cooking Oats
1 Egg
1/4 Cup of vegetable oil
1 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease muffin cups or line with paper muffin liners
In a small bowl, combine the milk and oats; let soak for 15 minutes. In a separate bowl, beat together the egg and oil; then slowly stir in the oatmeal mixture.
In a third bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir flour mixture into wet ingredients, just until combined. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups until the cups are 2/3 of the way full.
Bake in preheated oven for twenty to twenty five minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Consider a tree for a moment. As beautiful as trees are to look at, we don't see what goes on underground - as they grow roots. Trees must develop deep roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty. But we don't see the roots. We just see and enjoy the beauty. In much the same way, what goes on inside of us is like the roots
of a tree.
Joyce Meyer
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

How cute with all the festive sweaters and outfits! I did see a couple of trees on tops of cars yesterday, but you are right, Ma, time is running out to get a tree with 6 days left until Christmas!

I love the smell of fresh pine ... but alas, here in Arizona "real" trees don't usually survive the season and, of course, present a huge fire risk.
This reminded me, my father used to tell of days he and his siblings were little. Only on Christmas Eve - after his father's last church service - did Grandpa Willer throw open the double doors to his study and reveal the family's Christmas tree to the children. (Hardly seems worth it, doesn't it?)
Love the pictures of your family and the kids are so cute. It has been a cold day here in south Alabama and the wind is blowing pretty hard tonight, but the weather man predicts warmer days for Christmas. I would rather have a live Christmas tree if they didn't leave a mess in the carpet, they are so much prettier. Take care. Jean
