National Special Education Day is observed annually on December 2nd.
Special Education Day marks the anniversary of our nation’s first federal special education law which was signed by President Gerald Ford on December 2, 1975. This law is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
It's a day to honor progress and celebrate students with disabilities and their teacher, parents, and schools.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
An education isnt how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. Its being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don’t. Its knowing where to go to find out what you need to know; and its knowing how to use the information you get.
William Feather
I think every child is special and deserves a good education, but those with handicaps work to over come their disability along with learning new things. I applaud them, their teachers, parents and schools!
One thing I know for sure is that there is something new to learn every day no matter how old you get. I don’t think our education ever ends.
Today I hope to get out and do some grocery shopping. I’ve been home almost a week since my trip and when I left the fridge was pretty bare, now it’s time to fill it up again.
What a fast week it has been. The weather is getting colder with daytime highs in the 40’s, but on the bright side, for the next few days anyway, there is no snow in the forecast. I’m thankful for that!
Today’s pictures were taken the other day when I went out and raked up leaves. The nice thing is they are all gone now. The city has a wonderful truck with a hose that comes by and sucks them up.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is National Fritters Day!
Before you can begin to celebrate this very important day, you need to know what a fritter is. Many people do not know, making it all the more fun to eat your first fritter today. A fritter is a fried cake or dough with fruit or meats inside.
Whatever you do, do not fritter this day away without eating at least one!
December is National Fruit Cake Month and National Egg Nog Month
This week is National Cookie Cutter Week
I remember having my first corn fritter at one of my friends house when I was a teenager. I loved them then and still do.
CORN FRITTERS
1 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. baking powder
1 can or 10 oz pkg frozen corn
Sift together dry ingredients. Add beaten eggs, milk, and drained corn. Drop by spoonfuls into hot oil and cook until done. Serve with syrup and butter!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!
Hamilton Wright Mabie
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4441. for Special Education, every child deserves a chance
4442. for fritters, mmmm good
4443. for stores nearby to shop at
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

Lots of leaves to be sucked up! I bet that was a good feeling to get them all raked up! My mother in law was a special education teacher. She enjoyed her students and helping them learn as much as they were capable of learning. You are right, this was a fast week, Ma!
betty
My time working at the Abilene State School didn't last more than a year or so ... but it will always remain one of the most rewarding periods of my life. The 'residents' I used to fear or shy away from taught me so much about unconditional love.
Love the Autumn leaves!
How wonderful that the city comes along and sucks up your leaves. I might even rake mine if they would do that here. As it is I just mow over them a couple of times. My mom used to make Corn Fritters and they were a special treat. I should try this recipe!!
