4 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
8 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today, the third Friday of December is Ugly Sweater Day. On this day, get in the holiday spirit and flaunt those ugly holiday sweaters you have been too embarrassed to wear in public. Take that ugly sweater out and wear it in public, chances are, you won’t be the only one wearing the Rudolph sweater or maybe even one shining with Christmas lights!
If you don’t have an ugly sweater, why not make one of your own. Bedazzle an old or thrifted sweater, add embroidered holiday motifs and some sequins, and voila, you are ready for Ugly Sweater Day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?
Charlie Brown
I love Christmas sweaters. I truly have enough Christmassy sweaters or sweatshirts to wear everyday of December. Many have snowmen on them. DD has asked that our family wear some Christmas sweaters for our family gathering which is tomorrow. We’ll see just how many wear one. Hopefully I will have lots of pictures to share!
Deep in the corner of my cedar chest I found the matching Christmas sweaters DDH and I wore long ago. Yes, I really do keep everything. What sweet memories they invoke. Never thought of these as being ugly at all.
We are to be warmer than yesterday with temps in the 20’s today. There may be more snow coming our way later on, but tomorrow they say we’ll have rain. How crazy is that?
I took a few pictures of my Christmas cards to share…pictures these days are to find…
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
December is National Fruit Cake Month
I found this simple recipe to share today. I love fruitcake, but haven’t made one in a long long time.
NO BAKE FRUITCAKE
1/2 lb. butter
1 lb. marshmallows
1 lb. box graham crackers, crushed
1 lb. box raisins
1 qt. pecans
1 jar candied cherries
Crush crackers and mix with raisins, pecans and cherries. Melt butter and marshmallows together. Pour over other mixture. Pack in a wax paper lined pan. Put in refrigerator. Can be frozen. Dates and other candied fruit may also be added. Pack tightly.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!
Hamilton Wright Mabie
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4483. for sweaters, warm and cozy
4484. for fruit and cake, a wonderful mixture
4485. for memories, twinkling like snowflakes in the snow
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

How sweet you found those matching sweaters from you and your hubby! Those are definitely things I'm sure you will be keeping in your downsizing efforts. Some of the Christmas sweaters out there are a bit funny to look at, but I think that's what makes them so popular to have, especially when considering groups will do ugly Christmas sweater get togethers or voting on the most ugliest etc. Its how traditions are born I think!
Hope a lot of your family decide to wear Christmas sweaters tomorrow for your gathering!

I didn't realize just how popular 'ugly sweaters' were/are!
... and what, exactly, determines their 'ugliness?' I can't wait to see photos of tomorrow's gathering!
That's so sweet, re-discovering you and your late hubby's sweaters. I love how some otherwise ordinary things can defy space and time ... and evoke a rush of emotion.
PS - Warm-weather clothes are my very favorite! I don't own a lot of sweaters, but I could happily live in my oversize collegiate hoodies.
