THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Slow as molasses in January.
Old Saying
Very slowly the holiday decor will be changing around here. Right now I’ve managed to put on a clean fresh table cloth and not much else. The pictures are from last year. January is usually the time I put out my snowman collection and leave it up till I get the Valentine decor out in February.
I’ll be putting the pork and sauerkraut in the oven for dinner later on. It’s supposed to bring a good luck in the new year. My mom and dad always made this for New Years Day so it has become a tradition here.
I seriously tried to stay awake to greet the New Year, but found myself dosing off more than once. This morning I’m moving slow as molasses in January, but the good news is that I am moving.
I hope you all have a HAPPY NEW YEAR day !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
January opens
The box of the year
And brings out days
That are bright and clear
And brings out days
That are cold and grey
And shouts, Come see
What I brought today!
Leland B. Jacobs, January
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3457. for good health, it is a blessing indeed
3458. for another New Years Day, I’ve been blessed to see many of them
3459. for no snow, I don’t have the energy to shovel it right now
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first day of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.
Henry Ward Beecher
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Made it to about 10:30 last night and then gave in. We welcomed in new year's on New York time; watched the ball drop on TV and wished each other a Happy New Year :)
I like your menu for today; my mom would always make pork chops and sauerkraut on New Year's Day for luck :)
betty
I was told the sausage represented coins (when you cut slices off) and the cabbage represented folding money, in your sauerkraut dish! I just love sauerkraut, and am one of those who drinks the juice part. I love the Snowman Display idea! That sounds so festive and yet it's looking forward from Christmas into spring!
A wonderful first post, MA! Happy New Year!
We didn't 'party' last night, but (nevertheless) today's been sluggish.
The sauerkraut and pork smells wonderful!
