Chocolate Cake Day takes place on January 27th, 2016. Chocolate cake is a cake flavored with melted chocolate or cocoa powder. It can be made with other ingredients, as well. These ingredients include fudge, vanilla creme, and other sweeteners. The history of chocolate cake goes back to 1764, when Dr. James Baker discovered how to make chocolate by grinding cocoa beans between two massive circular millstones.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.
Charles M. Schulz
One of my friends recently mentioned having had Coca Cola Cake when she went out to eat. It sounded so good that I had to look up the recipe.. That’s what I’m sharing today for Chocolate Cake Day.
Cracker Barrel Double Fudge Coca Cola Cake
1 cup coca cola
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup salted butter
3 heaping Tablespoons dark cocoa powder
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
2 large eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Frosting:
1 stick salted butter
3 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350. Butter and flour a 9x13 pan and set aside.
In the large bowl of a mixer, stir together sugar and flour and set aside.
In a saucepan, bring cola, oil, butter and cocoa to a boil. Pour into the flour mixture and beat on medium low for about a minute. Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla and beat on medium for a minute more. Spread batter into prepared pan and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Immediately upon removing cake from oven, prepare frosting.
In a saucepan over medium heat, bring butter, cocoa powder and milk to boiling. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla. Pour over cake and quickly spread. Let cake cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until serving.
This is one recipe I’ll need to try next time I have some company to help me eat it.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !

What a lovely looking chocolate cake recipe Pam! I do love me some chocolate cake. I hardly ever make it however as Todd hates chocolate cake and I am not supposed to be eating it. Life's just not fair at times! Hope your Wednesday is going well! xoxo
I don't get to go to Cracker Barrel often, this is one of their best things. We liked the cherry cheesecake impossible pie last night.
That cake sounds yummy! The fact that it has coca cola in it is an added attraction! My dear Aunt Alice who died at the age of 98 ln September used to make a 7-Up cake that was delicious!
