Life is a Special Occasion!

National Bird Day is celebrated on January 5th. Bird watching is a favorite pastime of millions of people. It is the most popular of hobbies, and can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of age.
National Bird Day was established by bird activists. It calls upon people to recognize the plight of captive birds. It also draws attention to exploitation of birds in the U.S. pet industry. On this day, organizers suggest we reflect upon the conditions of birds held in captivity.
We are encouraged to take a few minutes to watch and observe birds today, as well as to feed them.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:26
I keep this little brown bird sitting out here at my house as a constant reminder that I am in God’s care. Good thing for all of us to remember.
On my weekly trip to the grocery store the week before Christmas I was blessed to see a wonderful sight. There was one of those trees in the parking lot loaded with red berries and it was full of robins. At first I thought they were black birds, but as they flew in and out of the branches, I realized it was a whole flock of robins. Needless to say I missed a photo opportunity so the pictures today are my little brown bird.
I’ve started taking things down and am putting away Christmas here…little by little I’ll be bringing some things out for Valentines Day.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
In almost everything that touches our everyday life on earth, God is pleased when we're pleased. He wills that we be as free as birds to soar and sing our maker's praise without anxiety.
A. W. Tozer
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3469. for birds to watch, they remind us of God’s care
3470. for suet cakes to share with the birds, a winter treat
3471. for thoughts of Spring that brighten my days
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty if only we have the eyes to see them.
John Ruskin
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

What a fantastic opportunity to see those robins! I bet it was a pretty sight! I know I have enjoyed watching the birds this past year here :)

I do love birds. We have been adding crushed up tortilla chips to the seeds for them - corn plus some grease so they can stay warmer. We rarely see robins here, but I miss them. We have "King Birds" - the clowns of the birdworld, some roadrunners, and doves.
What a sight that must have been Pam! On New Years Day evening when we were leaving our friends to come home there was a robin sitting in the tree singing his little heart out. It was so beautiful and most unusual to hear something like that in early evening after dark. It was a gift for sure! We love to feed the birds, and mostly only get sparrows or starlings, but I enjoy them anyways. We got a lot more down south. God bless your day! xoxo
