Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
January 3rd is the Festival of Sleep Day. No, you are not dreaming. But, perhaps you should be. Festival of Sleep Day is today. It is an opportunity to sleep in, snooze, doze, nap, and catch 40 winks.
This is the perfect date for Festival of Sleep Day. The holidays are over and it's cold and snowy and time to hibernate. Why not recharge the batteries as a new year of school and work begins?
Festival of Sleep Day is a favorite holiday to catch up on a little sleep. Whether its all day, a full 8 hours, or just a power nap, enjoy the day sleeping. Cozy up in bed on the couch, or any other comfortable place.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I'm not asleep... but that doesn't mean I'm awake.

This time of year I tend to hibernate and take lots of naps. The dark days and long nights make it very hard for me to stay awake. There are days I think I need tooth picks to hold my eyelids open, so I’ll have no problem celebrating this holiday.
This is the very last day of Christmas break for most of my family. Tomorrow they’ll be heading back to work and school.
Hopefully they’ll go back refreshed and ready to take on whatever the new year brings their way.
Here at my house, it’s the same most days. No work to go to, but there is a lot I could do here at home. Sundays are always my day of rest, a day to do little of nothing at all. Truth be told my get up and go, just got up and went. I say if you need a nap, take a nap!
The pork roast we had New Years Day is providing some leftovers for today’s lunch so there’s no need to even fix dinner. I prepared it a little differently this year, but it’s a recipe I’ll do again so I thought I’d share it with you all today.
serves 6-8
4 pound pork loin roast, boneless
2 pounds sauerkraut,with juices
*1 tablespoon caraway seed, optional, I did not use
1 apple, cored and quartered
1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
4 slices smoked bacon
Salt and fresh ground pepper
2 bay leaves
Whole grain mustard
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Place sauerkraut with juices into a large roasting pan and sprinkle with *caraway seed. I did not use caraways seeds. Sprinkle roast with salt and pepper and nestle on top of the sauerkraut
Spread out the apples and add broth, and bay leaves, then cover the loin with slices of bacon.
Tent the pork with foil and roast covered for 2 hours. Remove the foil, rotate pan in the oven, and check for any lost juices, add more broth if necessary. Cook for another hour. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes. Serve with the apples, sauerkraut and mustard!
I doubled the recipe and did turn up the temp to 350 degrees for half the baking time. It took double the time for double the pork. There was plenty of juice and never had to add more. It was delicious.
I hope you all have a RELAXING day ! Happy Sunday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Every hour of every day, God is richly blessing us; both when we sleep and when we wake His mercy waits upon us.
Charles Spurgeon
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3463. for a day to rest
3464. for leftovers, no need to cook
3465. for my rocker and cozy throw, I spend a lot of time there
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
No day is so bad it can't be fixed with a nap.

Happy Sunday ...This is really strange, last night I dreamed I was a child and walked to school while asleep. I think I will have a nap after football this afternoon.
That does sound like a good recipe for the pork and always good to have leftovers. We made a nice dinner here on New Year's Day and thankfully had enough for leftovers for last night :)
I do like a day to take a nap; I had some time off last week and took advantage of an afternoon nap both days :)
betty
Yay(!), I've been rehearsing for the Festival of Sleep day for a good long while now! There's something so indulgent and restorative about naps, isn't there?
This recipe looks like something hubby would adore, indeed!
Wish I could nap, but they make me ill! But I'm a big believer in at least 8 hours of sleep!
