62 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
Sunrise: 7:52 am
Sunset: 5:26 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
January 17th is Ditch New Year’s Resolution Day and is popularly thought to be the day when a large number of people abandon their New Year’s resolutions. According to some studies almost 80% of all people who make New Year’s resolutions abandon them sometime during the year.
Think about it: is it easier to slip back into old habits, or is it better to hold on your New Year's resolutions? You have done well for the past couple of weeks. You have stuck to your New Year’s resolutions. But are now ready to give them up. You are busy, you took on too much, that piece of cake just looks so darn good to ignore. Whatever your reason to break your New Year resolutions, you can do it guilt free on Ditch New Year’s Resolution Day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We go all wrong by too strenuous a resolution to go right.
Nathaniel Hawthorne
As I really didn’t make any New Year Resolutions, there is nothing for me to get rid of today. Sometimes I think we’d all be better off making resolutions or setting goals for each new month, rather than for a whole year. Things are constantly changing, and the things we want to do will change too.
I think that if we focus on the positive parts of our lives and forget the negative, there’s a good chance we’ll succeed in whatever we want to do.
I’m savoring the little bit extra day light we’ve experienced since the Winter Solstice. The afternoons are now almost 1/2 hour longer than they were. It’s almost 5:30 now when the sun sets. Little by little I’ll be coming out of hibernation and get a little more done each day. Hurray!
Today we’re to see the return of Arctic temps and snow. Keep warm and keep safe everyone !
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Precious beyond price are good resolutions. Valuable beyond price are good feelings.
H. R. Haweis
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3505. for goals and plans, we’d never get started if we didn’t make them
3506. for a little more daylight each day
3507. for yesterday's melted ice and snow, we are to get more today
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Sudden resolutions, like the sudden rise of mercury in a barometer, indicate little else than the variability of the weather.
David Hare
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I too am welcoming the little bit more light we are getting; now it is even still a bit of light in the sky when I finish work at 6 p.m.
I agree with not making resolutions but setting goals. I think goals are so much more achievable and give a better sense of accomplishment than resolutions, especially if one doesn't keep up their resolutions.

This idea of have a 24-hour 'time out' is great!
Even tho' I threw out 'resolution' from my vocabulary years ago, more than a little Guilt rears its ugly head real regular-like. I'm my own worst critic.
We were at 8 degrees all day, and are falling from there... I am more worried about my husband falling (we got a dusting of snow) than anything. More snow coming tomorrow, and then a gradual warming.
I don't do New Year resolutions. I just try to do better today than I did yesterday! I'm ready for longer days!! I'm so tired of going to work at dark and coming home at dark!
haha, like you I never make New Years Resolutions! Nothing to abandon then and nobody gets hurt! It's been quite cold here as you know Stay warm and safe inside. That's my Winter motto! Have a lovely Monday! xoxo
